Updated 2025 New Jersey Player Rankings
August 31, 2022
The Class of 2025 in New Jersey wrapped up its first full high school summer circuit a couple weeks ago. With that, it's time to produce a list of the top players in the class as they head to school for their sophomore years. This top 10 is dominated by highly projectable arms and middle infield bats that showed they belonged on a national scale.

The Top 5
+ Coming in at the top spot in the rankings is Notre Dame commit SS Jamie Zee Jr. (Bergen Catholic). Zee's playmaking abilities stood out at the PBR Future Games in late July and was arguably the top position player prospect on Team New Jersey. The advanced strength stands out at 5-foot-10 170-pounds -- but most importantly, was his tough at bats in gameplay and knack for making the routine play look easy in the field. Advanced arm strength across the diamond at 88 mph, consistently on the barrel during BP with loud line drives (88.5 mph avg exit velo; 82% sweet spot %), Zee figures to be a key run producing cog for Bergen Catholic in the years to come.
One of the top 2025’s in the state of NJ, SS Jamie Zee Jr. (@BergenCathBase).

Wide and athletic stance, real fluid at the plate with advanced barrel awareness. Accelerate through contact with carry to all fields. Top exit velo of 97 MPH. pic.twitter.com/iqY4XboSVL
+ Coming in at No. 2 is Virginia recruit RHP Ryan Prior (Red Bank Catholic). More so than any class in high school, the rising sophomores have tons of projection like body frame, arm action, breaking ball, advanced velocity (relative to their peers), hit tool, power, among others. Prior checks off a ton of boxes within these components. He's a wiry athletic 6-foot-3 195-pounds with long limbs and a fastball that's been into the mid-80s. Prior is going to throw very hard, that's for sure.
+ No. 3 is uncommitted LHP/OF Luke Wood (Pennsville). Wood, a Future Games participant from this summer, possesses some athleticism at 5-foot-11 160-pounds. On the mound, his fastball has gotten up to 87 mph, and sits mostly 84-87. I really liked Wood's competitiveness at the Future Games. He's a highly focused and motivated player. The breaker is solid although still developing, and has a feel for a changeup, too. But the velocity and strike throwing ability already has his stuff playing up.
2025 OF/LHP Luke Wood (Pennsville HS).

One of the top 2025’s in the state tossed 2 scoreless today to keep Team NJ in the game. Legit 3-pitch mix with feel for offspeed.

+ No. 4 is SS Julius Rosado (South River). The Rutgers commit possesses some of the best bat to ball skills we've seen at this age in a long time. Athletic, twitchy, 5-foot-11 170-pounds, Rosado's bat can play in any lineup for any team. Rhythmic hands, neutral stance, fluid hand load and able to stay in his legs through finish. Routinely on the barrel - 96 mph max exit, 89 mph avg., 89% sweet spot, Rosado has the ability to be a mainstay at the top of the rankings for years to come. Rutgers got another in-state steal on this one.
2025 INF Julius Rosado (South River) is one of the top ‘25s in the state. Broad shouldered, at 5’11/170

+ Rounding out the Top 5 is Virginia commit SS Nicky Becker (Don Bosco Prep). The younger brother of highly touted 2023 Eric Becker, Nicky's game mirror's his big brother's, although from the righty side of the plate. It's a wide stance with rhythm in the hands, small foot stride/toe tap. Long levers at 6-foot-2 170-pounds and still filling out frame.

Risers
+ No. 8 OF/SS Tyler Wiltsey (Audubon) is a recent Rutgers commit and a dynamic athlete at 5-foot-10 160-pounds. 6.65 runner and can play both in the infield and outfield, Wiltsey's game has a top of the lineup feel with the speed and power to hit for extra bases.

Tall and open stance, really comfortable in the box. Smooth weight transfer, maintains balance in the lower half. Top exit velo of 93 MPH. pic.twitter.com/VnlOZR40aZ
+ No. 9 RHP Marcelo Harsch (Seton Hall Prep) is a recent Wake Forest commit and Future Games participant with Team New Jersey. Harsch has a wiry, projectable frame at 6-foot-3 165-pounds with room to fill out. Fastball was up to 90mph at the Future Games and sat comfortably at 87-89 through his two appearances. Long, easy arm action from a high slot. The fastball is heavy when located down in the zone and induces ground ball contact. Look for Harsch to continue to make jumps with his velocity as he gets stronger.

+ No. 10 LHP Brett Gable (Cherokee) is a Virginia Tech commit and was one of the best arms to come out of the 2025 State Games back in early July. Fastball is 82-84 with plus command for his age and spins two breakers for strikes and swings and misses.

Disgusting first inning, nothing he throws is straight. Advanced feel for all 3 pitches, while generating s/m with all of them as well.

+ No. 11 North Carolina commit SS AJ Terry (Randolph) is one of the top overall athletes in this class. 6-feet 170-pounds, quick twitch is present, 6.80 runner, 83 mph arm strength and line drive bat, Terry is smooth and easy at the plate with high hands and a short, simple weight exchange.
+ No. 18 uncommitted INF William Kraemer (The Hun School) still has some filling out to do at 6-feet 160-pounds, but has some twitch in the field and passes the eye test at the plate. Leg kick, small hand load, line drive pop through the middle of the field.
+ No. 21 uncommitted SS Ethan Tolbert (Moorestown) was impressive at the 2025 State Games back in early July. Athletic looking 5-foot-8 145-pounds, the lefty swinger backs a powerful punch at the plate. He was consistently on the barrel in his BP round and was one of the top offensive performers in the simulated game, putting together some tough at bats against high quality arms.
One of the top BP rounds comes from 2025 MIF Ethan Tolbert (Moorestown HS)

Uber athletic build, twitchy actions. Barrel flies through the zone. Top of the order guy with a high ceiling. 89 MPH exit velo. pic.twitter.com/GNJgCRWSUZ
+ No. 22 uncommitted C/RHP John Donahue (Montgomery) is an interesting guy to keep an eye on in his sophomore campaign. A natural catcher, Donahue started pitching last fall and has been 81-84 on the mound with feel for spin, too. At the plate, it's quiet, compact from a lower hand load with some juice to the gaps.
+ No. 26 Uncommitted SS Michael Schiermeyer (Franklin) is another guy who still has some growing to do, but the foundation is there. 5-foot-11 155-pounds, Schiermeyer impressed at the PPH Scout Day in August, running a 6.87 60 and topping at 94 mph off the bat.
+ No. 31 uncommitted RHP Ryan Holman (Delbarton) has advanced feel for spin for his age and a fastball in the low 80s, topping at 84. The slider is a true out pitch, although he can throw it in any count for strikes. Strength still developing, but expect Holman to contribute in big ways for the Green Wave in 2023.
