Updated 2023 Overall Rankings
May 11, 2022
When we last updated the 2023 Overall Rankings in December, the strength of the class had already come into ultra focus moving from The Case For #1 in September that profiled ten players that could be considered for the top overall spot, to a group beyond, and has now blossomed with even more burgeoning prospects. This group of prepsters (even without potential 2022 first rounders RHP/IF Cam Collier, RHP Walter Ford, and C Brady Neal) is lining up to be historically good. Paired with a college draft class that shares equal talent, the 2023 MLB Draft might hold more value than any since 2005.

The top 10 remains relatively intact with the sole move being SS/C Gavin Grahovac (Villa Park HS, CA), a Texas A&M recruit, bumping up a couple spots to No. 7. Even beyond the top 10, the top 20 saw only two newcomers. No. 15 SS Roch Cholowsky (Hamilton HS, AZ), a UCLA recruit, has tantalizing defensive abilities along with dynamic barrel accuracy that are boosted at a premium position, and IF Eric Bitonti (Oak Hills HS, CA), an Oregon recruit, is one of the best pure hitters in the class with a heavy barrel from the left side and a clear path to rise to even greater heights.
Looking forward to seeing more of 2023 SS Roch Cholowsky the next year. Smooth path, can manipulate the barrel and produce loud contact. Easy, athletic mover. Rangy frame w/ plenty of strength to come. @UCLABaseball recruit.@PBRArizona @prepbaseball @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/VEDK4wgEUo

To stop after the top 20 would be doing a great disservice to this class. This group goes nearly 200 deep with prospects who might ultimately rise into the top 50, and even the final spots on the list were hotly contested amongst PBR’s numerous boots-on-the-ground staff with many high upside players just missing the cut. Now, the march to the 2023 MLB Draft begins as high school state championships are decided and the summer circuit kicks off with eager wide-eyed ‘23 ballplayers ready to officially grab the spotlight.
