Uncommitted Spotlight: 2021 1B Christopher Cascardo
February 2, 2021
The 2021 and 2022 classes has received the brunt of the recruiting restrictions created by the Covid-19 virus with a higher volume of projectable, uncommitted players heading into their junior than ever before. Nevada is no different with the unusual wealth of talent still available throughout the state and we will now be spotlighting players throughout the Scout Day Season that you can look out for in upcoming PBR events.
Coronado product and the #5 ranked first baseman in the 2021 class, Christopher Cascardo, has take full advantage of the Covid restricted time period, dedicating himself to the weight room and in turn, seeing it pay off on both sides of the ball. His foot speed has continued to improve at each event he has attended and the his improved physical condition has helped improve his athleticism around the bag. The best part of Cascardo's game has always been at the plate with a compact stroke that stays mostly gap to gap and the occasional flash of power to the pull side evident by the PBR Verified 94 mph Exit Velocity retrieved via TrackMan at the Nevada Top Prospect event last summer. His approach and plate discipline are the seprators as the uncommitted prospect understands the zone, stays within himself and is reluctant to chase pitches out of the zone. With Cascardo set to attend the upcoming Golden Spikes Scout Day later this week, we expect him to show well and continue to cement himself as a prospect that could come off the board in the near future.
