Top-10 Profiles of 2019: No. 9 Alex Stanwich
December 17, 2019
It’s not often that an underclassmen like Alex Stanwich (Lincoln-Way East; Tennessee commit) earns his way onto this end-of-the-year list of most-viewed profiles, but Stanwich is the exception. He took this year’s PBR Future Games by storm when he broke the prestigious event’s exit velocity record (106 mph) as a 2022 prospect competing against mostly 2021 talent.
But he didn’t just impress at the exit velo station, Stanwich’s live, strong athleticism helped him run a 6.82 mark in the 60-yard dash, top 93 mph from the outfield, and reach 88 mph on top of the mound. Stanwich committed to Tennessee a week after the Future Games, too.
Frankly, Stanwich’s performance at the first-ever LakePoint-hosted Future Games was among the most impressive in the entire event, which must have surely boosted the attention his PBR digital profile was drawing. PBR National Crosscheck Shooter Hunt said Stanwich had some of the event’s best athleticism with easy raw power and the aforementioned arm strength that saw him touch the upper-80s in his lone inning of work.
When we released our first look at the state’s 2022 class rankings, we named Stanwich the No. 3 overall prospect, where he remains today headed into the new year. On the national board, Stanwich is up to No. 135 overall in the country, though he has arguably the highest ceiling in Illinois’ sophomore class and he might only just be beginning to climb up the charts.
