2017 TEAM PREVIEW: West Vigo vikings

Class: 3A
2016 Record: 12-11
Conference (2016 Record):  Western Indiana - 5-1
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/5

2017 Team Strengths:

• Pitching

Top Returning Players:

• Evan Newnman, OF/P, 2019
• Wyatt Joy, P, 2018: 6-1 1.31ERA 
• Jake Lautenshlager, 3B/C/P, 2019
• Ryan Brown, C, 2019: 
• Collin Saylers, C, 2019 

Outlook: Coach DeGroote brings back a very strong 2018 and 2019 class led by Wyatt Joy and 4 other returning pitchers.  With the top 5 arms coming back, West Vigo should compete at the top of the Western Indiana conference once again.  They will have to deal with returning State Champion Northview, but bringing back some young talent that now has experience should help out the Vikings.
