EMERSON, GEORGIA - Team California wrapped up the 2021 Future Games with a 3-3 tie vs the Pacific-NorthWest. Josh Pashby started the game on the mound, twirling 3 quality innings where he filled up the zone with fastballs and let the defense work. Defensive play of the game goes to right-fielder Julian Areliz, who gunned down a runner at home with a perfect long hop throw. Offensive player of the game goes to Jack Hafercamp, who drove in the go ahead run and what ended up being a crucial run that kept the game a tie. Ben Reiland was named player Player of the Game, going 2-4, with a run scored, walk and stolen base.
After a real impressive workout on Wednesday, Curiel showed up on Saturday and squared up on some baseballs. In his first at bat he went with an outside FB and drove it the other way. Then is his following two ABs he found the barrel for two long flyouts. His swing is simply one of the smoothest of any ‘24 out there. The bat stays in the zone a long time with 70+ mph bat speed which allows him to find the barrel for hard hit balls even when late. After quite the successful freshman seaon in the Trinity League hitting .318 with a .432 OBP we are excited to see how he improves upon his already special skillset.
2024 RHP @RossClark24 impressed in his 2 scoreless innings of work striking out 4. Projectable build. Compact arm action that is tight behind his body and comes out easy at release. FB sat 85-87. Exciting name to follow as he develops. @PBR_California @LesLukach @Jacked_23 pic.twitter.com/TOn5F5bT6K

This was our first look at Ross Clark since our Preseason All-State and it was cool to see the improvements he’s made since then. The 6-4, 190 pound ‘24 has a projectable build that’s a scout’s dream with clean mechanics to go with it. Uses a more compact arm circle in the back that stays hidden behind his body until it comes out at release out of a more over the top slot. The ball comes out with easy velo out the hand as he used both a four seam and two seam FB that worked 85-87. Paired his FB with a 74-75 SL and 72-73 CH. Ended up going two scoreless and striking out four. After seeing how much he’s advanced in just a few months he’ll be a follow for most college programs and should make an impact next year on VAR for OLU.
2023 C @richardtejeda16 of @olubaseball was just missing balls in his first two games but was able to find the barrel today for a LD single. Fast hands that take a direct approach to the ball. Pretty good catch/throw behind the dish as well. @PBR_California @LesLukach @Jacked_23 pic.twitter.com/hdqGD8keub

Every look that we’ve had on Reiland has been positive and that continued in today’s game against the Pacific North West. In game action, he had two line drive singles up the middle and one of them came with two strikes. He gets his foot down early and let’s his hands play. Has some of the best barrel control in his class that allows him to put the ball wherever he wants. Has started to show feel for some power and if that continues to develop it would make him a no brainer for any college program.2024 OF @ReilandBen of @olubaseball had a nice game today with 2 LD knocks. Elite barrel control that allows him to trust his hands. Great bat path as well. @PBR_California @LesLukach @Jacked_23 @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/1Mof7lfIie

2024 OF @JackHaferkamp of @SFCEagles was able to put some of his + blast metrics on display today in game action w/ a hard knock off the pitcher for an RBI single. Real quick hands that yield good results when timing is right. @PBR_California @LesLukach @Jacked_23 pic.twitter.com/f6VA6w0RnF
