Event: California State Games
Positional Profile
: SS/OF
Physical
: 5-9, 150-pounds; 7.09 runner in the 60, 3.96 30-yard split, 1.75 10-yard split, 28.2” vertical jump. Athletic proportions on average size frame.
Offensively: LHH. EV max – 89.9 mph, sweet spot% - 80%, line drive% - 50%, hand speed max – 20.7 mph, bat speed max – 68.5 mph, on-plane efficiency avg – 74.6%; rotational acceleration avg – 18.8; Balanced set-up, feet just outside shoulders, tall stance, hands start deep and held high off the body, small smooth stride into fairly stiff front side, handsy loose stroke, long one hand finish, works field well, line drive approach with ability to cover pitches in multiple locations.
Defensively: INF mph – 71, OF mph – 82; Didn’t look to be letting it go from SS as the approach was more of a fluid catch/get ball underway session, hops into prep position, catches ball out front, trusts feet and keeps them moving which allows him to athletically make adjustments to hops (best we have on record in INF is 76 mph), fluid approach to ball in OF, moves gracefully, gets ball underway quickly, took clean angles to ball while getting in position to get ball out.

2/06/21

Body5-8, 140-pounds. Long lanky frame, athleticism present and projects well for more growth
HitLHH. Balanced stance hands higher at back elbow with easy, relaxed base. Stays on back hip well with quiet forward move In the zone a long time with simple, compact swing. Hand speed/rotational acceleration present now and chance to be above-average to better hit tool. 20.2 Max Rotational Acceleration, 20 Max Handspeed, 66.9 Max Batspeed, 67% On Plane Efficiency
Power90.40 mph exit velocity
ArmRH. INF - 70.00 mph. OF - 81 mph. From the OF he has a compact arm circle that comes out of the over the top slot and most throws were accurate one hops to the bag. In infield his arm action was short and quick and from a lower 3/4 slot. Didn't rush his throws which gave him all accurate throws. Also showed ability to change arm slot when needed.
Defense: In the OF he charged balls hard, fielded them on his left foot and was able to quickly set his feet up for throws. In the infield is where he looked more comfortable. Has + glove skills and takes good angles. Funnels up the body and has clean exchanges from glove to release.
Run: 7.28 runner in the 60.

OC Preseason All-State: At 5-foot-9, 140-pounds Reiland doesn’t stand out too much physically other than there is noticeable strength on the frame, but when you watch him on the field you immediately see why he is widely considered one of the best players in his age group and the only 2024 invited to the event. After posting a 7.15 laser-timed 60, Reiland demonstrated the type of control of the barrel that is found in players much older than him. He sets up with a fairly neutral and balanced stance with his hands just above the shoulder. Uses a heel lift into stride before exploding his hands into the ball routinely squaring the ball up and showing future gap power. It was one of the more mature rounds of BP on the day. A natural shortstop, Reiland also worked out in the outfield showing a big, accurate arm that registered an 82 mph velocity on throws home. However, it was his athleticism out there that really stood out. The footwork is in sync with his body as he arrives at the ball funnelling it out front before taking a short crowhop then release. If shortstop is where Reiland stays than he’ll be more than able to handle himself there. Much like in the outfield the footwork and overall athleticism stands out as does the ability with the arm.

6/07/19

5-foot-7, 140-pounds. I won’t go into much detail here because Reiland is only an 8th-grader, but he showed more than well enough for me to mistake him as one of the top 2023 players at the event. His barrel control from the left side is advanced, and his premium athleticism will only get better in coming years. He is definitely a player that I will circle to see early-on next summer when he heads to high school.
