SoCal Diamond Notes: March 4 - March 9

Our weekly Diamond Notes highlights players that were nominated by their coaches for SoCal Player of the Week award.

The following players had impressive performances during the week of March 4 - March 9, and though not selected as Player of the Week, they earned special recognition. Players are listed in no particular order.

2019 RHP Drew Dalquist - Redondo HS - During his two appearances, the Arizona signee went 1-0 throwing 8.1 innings while allowing only 3 hits and finishing with 12 Ks.

2019 RHP Brock Razook - Canyon HS - During two appearances in relief, the uncommitted senior threw 5.2 innings with 0 hits and 10Ks.

2019 LHP Spencer Rasmussen - Canyon HS - The uncommitted senior pitched 6 innings with 2Ks, allowing only 2 hits to earn the win.

2020 IF/RHP Parker Haskell - El Dorado HS - The uncommitted junior went 2-for-5 over 2 games with a game winning RBI vs. Santa Margarita. He also threw three scoreless innings picking up the win.    

2019 P/3B - Diego Ramos - Temescal Canyon HS - Throwing a complete game against Canyon Springs, the uncommitted senior allowed 1 run, 5 hits, 0 walks with 6Ks so earn the win. In relief against Jurupa Hills, Ramos threw 2.2 innings with 4Ks. On the season he’s pitched 19.2 innings, with a 3-2 record, 17Ks, and surrendered 6 earned runs.

2019 2B/RHP - Gabriel “Angel” Sanchez - San Dimas HS- The uncommitted senior threw a no-hitter with 15Ks against Summit for a 7-1 team win. At the plate Sanchez was 1-for-2 with 1 run and 1 stolen base. He picked up the save against Rancho with 1K helping with a 4-1 team win.

2019 RHP - Jarrett Thompson - Corona del Mar HS - Against Esperanza as relief, Thompson threw 6.2 innings, with 8Ks, giving up 5 hits, no runs. He earned the win after coming back from a 5-0 deficit. Thompson is now is now 2-0 for the year.

2019 SS - Brandon Lawrence - Dunn School - The University of Michigan Commit’s 3 game states include an AVG -.636, OBP-.696, 11AB,  7 Hits, 4- 2B, 4 RBI, 2 BB, and 1 Run - Pitching-1 inning scoreless and a Save.

2019 C - Ethan Cloyd - Dunn School - The University of California at Berkeley Commit’s 3 game stats include an AVG-.666, OBP-.666, 12 AB, 8 Hits, 5- 2B, 6 RBIs, 0 BB, and 1 Run.

2021 RHP Izzac Rabelo - Buena Park HS - The sophomore pitched 7.1 shutout innings with 4Ks. Rabelo allowed only 4 hits against 3-0 Sonora.

2020 RHP Chris Wilson - Arcadia HS - Against Pasadena he allowed only 2 hits with 8Ks through 5 scoreless innings. For the year he moved to 4-0 with only 1 earned run, 24 Ks, and only 2 walks through 20 IP.

2019 - OF/P - Jacob Lopez - Arcadia HS - He began the week going 3-3 with a 2 run HR and an RBI double against Pasadena. Lopez finished the week going 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

2019 P Mike Gutierrez - Cal High - During the 7-1 win against Santa Fe High School, the Mt. Sac commit allowed only 1 run over 6 hits, and had 13Ks through 6 innings. His team improved to a 6-1 record and he is 3-0 for the year. For the season Gutierrez has an ERA of 0.73 with 37Ks through 19 IP.

2019 RHP - Neal Draves - Bishop Montgomery HS - The senior has 3 H, 3 BB, 5 K, 0 R in a complete game shutout over Salesian.  On the season he is 1-1 with a 0.43 ERA, with 17 Ks over 16.1 IP.

2019 P - Ryan Sanders - Quartz Hill HS - St. Marys - Against Silverado, the St. Mary's signee threw a  complete game shutout with 2 hits allowed. Sanders had  a no hitter against Knight with 2 walks, and 14Ks. On the season he has 2 wins, 2 CGs, 2 shutouts, 12 IP, 2 hits allowed, 2 walks, 20 Ks.
