The Preseason All State Showcase is coming to IMG Academy this Saturday, Jan. 21. This invite-only event will feature some of the top 2017-2020 high school prospects throughout the state of Florida. On paper, this year’s roster are players that are potential draft picks in their respective class along with currently uncommitted players with Division I talent.
For the first Preseason All-State, we have a turnout of talent from across the state and across all of the classes. The 2017 class attendees are highlighted by a pair of Miami recruits in Connor Allen (No. 55; Merritt Island HS, FL) and SS William Escala (No. 67; South Dade Senior HS, FL). Also coming are C Austin Bates (No. 49; IMG Academy, FL), a Chiploa JC recruit, and RHP Drew Martin (No. 117; Tampa Jesuit HS, FL), who is currently uncommitted.
The 2018 group is also filled with talented players both committed and uncommitted. There are two Florida commits in 3B Roberto Pena (No. 36; Flanagan HS, FL) and RHP Nick Pogue (No. 70; Eau Gallie HS, FL). Along with Pena and Pogue, the 2018 class features LHP Stephen Wilmer (No. 95; Riverview HS, FL), an East Carolina recruit, and SS Andres Antonini (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, FL), a Pittsburgh recruit.
The 2018 class also features talented players that are currently uncommitted led by RHP/IF Matthew Dickey (No. 32; North Florida Christian School, FL) and athletic, left-handed hitting OF Jordan Garcia (J.W. Mitchell HS, FL). There are also a couple of uncommitted arms to follow in RHP Michael Bacica (No. 67; Windermere Prep, FL) and RHP Tony Becker (Creekside HS, FL).
The talented 2019 class is led by Florida State recruit and the No. 7 prospect in the state, RHP/SS Brandon Walker (North Florida Christian School, FL). Also coming are 3B Josh Rivera (No. 23; Avon Park HS, FL), a Rice recruit, and SS/3B Logan Keller (No. 32; Lake Brantley HS, FL), an Alabama recruit.
The 2019 class also has an impressive depth of uncommitted talent, led by the very athletic and projectable OF/LHP Raymond LaFleur (No. 18; Tate HS, FL). Also worth following are OF/LHP Derek Crum (No. 56; Gaither HS, FL), LHPs Josh Gipson (Oviedo HS, FL), Ben Gilbert (Lake Wales HS, FL) and Josh Kinker (Venice HS, FL), and C Christian Pregent (Father Lopez HS, FL)
The 2020 class is highlighted by the No. 1 player in the state— C Jackson Miller (J.W. Mitchell HS, FL). Bolstering the impressive group is a Florida recruit in RHP/SS Colby Halter (No. 22; Bishop Kenny HS, FL), as well as OF/RHP Carson Montgomery (No. 14; West Orange HS, FL), RHP Ryan McCauley (No. 13; J.W.
