Player of the Week: Ty Southisene
May 3, 2021
Each week this season, the PBR Nevada staff will be selecting the Player of the Week from the submissions received from the coaches and peers after games have been completed on Saturday afternoons. Submissions will be accepted through Sunday and announced Monday morning as we head into the next week of games.
Player of the Week
With standout performances being produced all around the state during Week 3 of the Spring season, none were more impressive than the week that Nevada's #1 ranked 2024, Ty Southisene, put together. Not only were the numbers impressive, but also the timing and who he did them against with a huge game against cross town rival, Bishop Gorman, where Southisene raised his game up to a level that very few freshman in the country are capable of doing, going 4 for 4 with an opposite field homerun, 3 RBI's and 3 Runs Scored. A day earlier, he racked up two hits with an RBI and was also called upon on the mound in an extra inning battle with a rising Cimarron-Memorial squad where he allowed 0 earned runs and striking out 3 over his two innings of work. The San Diego State commit ended his outstanding week with a .667 batting average, a pair of homers, 6 total runs batted in and 2 stolen bases, one of which he stole home in a critical situation in their game against Gorman. The obvious athleticism and advanced actions on both sides of the ball as well as on the base paths make him not only an exciting player to follow, but an exciting player to watch now.
Congratulations to Ty Southisene on earning Nevada's Player of the Week
