PBR Future Games: Team IA-MN-NE Preview

The PBR Future Games is a one-of-a-kind event that will feature the best uncommitted players in the Class of 2021 and select 2022 prospects from the 40+ state coverage area of PBR. The Future Games take place on July 31 - August 3 at LakePoint in Cartersville, GA. Last year more than 250 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.
Beginning on Wednesday July 31st with a full pro-style workout for the position players in attendance, the event runs through August 3rd. Each team will play three games over the three days after the workout day. Team Iowa-Minnesota-Nebraska will be comprised of players from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Evan Appelwick SS / 2B / Madison, SD / 20215-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 7.14 runner. Strong follow in 2021 class. Balanced in box, stays connected well, consistent solid contact, drives ball to both gaps, has flashes of pop in bat, 91 mph exit velocity. Works around and through, athletic fielder, has above avg. hands with solid footwork, above avg. arm with accuracy and carry to bag, 87 mph arm across infield. |
Gavin Bergman RHP / 1B / New Prague, MN / 20216-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.25 runner. Slightly open balanced stance. Good rhythm in load. Loose swing with good hands. Gap to gap approach with line drive contact. Consistent barrel contact with strength in swing. 90 mph exit velocity. IF- Athletic feet and moves well laterally. Good glove and fields ball clean. 74 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy. On mound- Good size on mound. Good balance and tempo in delivery. Lands slightly across body down mound. Clean barrel path, , short to contact, uses whole field, hard line drive contact. Above average high school hitter. Posted an 88 mph exit velocity. Easy actions at first base, hands and feet work. Went 2-4 during game action with a double. On the mound, pitched in the 81-84 mph range. Good tilt, tough angle to hitter, easy arm action on 1/7 CB with plus depth. Avg. fade on CH to arm side. |
Alex Call LHP / 1B / Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (KMS), MN / 20226-foot-3, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Athletic frame with proportional strength. Arm works well from 3/4 slot. Shows late arm-side run and sink; consistently producing 83-85 mph fastballs with easy effort. Shows above avg. feel for 1/7 curveball with larger break and tighter spin. Throws strikes with firm changeup; consistently in bottom of zone. |
