Ontario Blue Jays Fall Trip - First Half Standouts

PBR Ontario hit the road this past week with the Ontario Blue Jays as they embarked on their second fall trip of the year with a schedule loaded with Division I programs. The first half of the trip saw them take on the University of Pittsburgh, George Mason University, Georgetown and PRO5 Academy. 

The Blue Jays brought a loaded roster down south with them that includes several high-end committed players, along with a slew of uncommitted talent who will likely draw a lot of interest from their Division I opponents.

Below, Brady Turner begins to break down everything from the first four games with a look at six of the standouts.

'24 OF/SS Lucas Alberti (Uncommitted): Alberti had a game to remember against George Mason, coming through with a pair of hits, one of which went off the LCF wall for a double. Alberti also provided some stellar defending in CF, cutting off balls in the gap that could have easily gone for extra bases. He also cut down a runner out at third who was trying to tag up on a ball to CF.

'24 LHP Jayden Bailey (Uncommitted): Bailey was filling up the strike zone in his two outings with both his FB and CB. The LHP has an easy, repeatable delivery from a ¾ slot. Lives down in the zone and keeps hitters off balance with his sharp CB.

'23 3B Tommy Valero (Uncommitted): The 6-foot-1, 200-pound third baseman had a standout performance on Thursday against Pro5 Academy, finishing the game with 3 hits. Looks right in the box, uses his strength well, and drives the ball to all fields with authority.

'23 RHP Matt Sargeant (North Dakota St.): The NDSU commit looked the part on Wednesday against Georgetown. His athletic, repeatable delivery allows him to tunnel his pitches well keeping hitters off-balance, creating lots of soft contact.

'23 SS Myles Naylor (Texas Tech): Although Naylor does not have much to show for it, the Texas Tech commit has been his usual self so far this trip. He continues to put up competitive at-bats and drives the ball hard to all fields, lacing a double to the LCF gap against George Mason.

'24 LHP Lachlan Harrison (Uncommitted): The 2024 grad has been one of the more impressive arms thus far. Against Georgetown, he created lots of S/M on both his FB and CB totalling 5 Ks in 2 IP. The 6’4”/200Ibs lefty has a loose arm and creates a steep approach angle with his offerings when living down in the zone, producing lots of weakly hit ground balls.
