On the Rise: 2022 Pitchers
September 28, 2019
Through our travels across the empire state this year, thousands of players have performed in front of our PBR NY scouting department. "On the Rise" player spotlight article will highlight different players from around the empire state that have impressed our staff. Today we take an inside look at several 2022 pitchers whose stock is rising.
Tyler Blake LHP / 1B / Cortland , NY / 2022
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Stands 6-foot-3, 170-pounds with a body to dream on. More of a methodical approach to his delivery, medium length fluid arm-swing, high 3/4 slot, low effort with easy 79-82 mph FB velocity, slurve type action to his breaking-ball that has potential. With a frame that's ready to fill-out, expect to see Blake continue his FB gains over the next few years. |
Jerek Hobb LHP / OF / Schalmont, NY / 2022
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: 5-foot-10, 140-pounds with a wiry build, clear room for added strength and size. High leg-lift with repeatable pace to his delivery, short arm-swing, releases from a mid 3/4 slot, above average hand-speed, current FB velocity sits 79-81 with plenty more projected down the road. The breaking ball shows late 2/8 shape, really gets under the right-handed-hitters barrel. In several evaluations of Hobb, the pitchability has been sharp, really excited to follow the Albany area prospect. |
Mario Pesca RHP / Cardinal Spellman , NY / 2022

Daniel McAliney RHP / OF / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2022
CEVETTE'S QUICk HIT: Stands 6-foot-4, 150-pounds from a lanky, wiry body-frame. Fluid, repeatable mechanics, loose whippy arm-action with no restrictions, FB has life out of the 3/4 release-point, up to 82 mph with easy velocity projection. Curveball has natural 11/6 shape, loose at times but will improve as his hand-speed develops. Exciting SO prospect from the greater Rochester, NY area worth keeping close eyes on. |
Jeremiah Vega 2B / RHP / John Jay - East Fishkill, NY / 2022
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Smaller build standing 5-foot-8, 160-pounds with a compact, strong frame. High-level athlete (6.98 runner) with fast-twitch actions. He performed extremely well during the position player workouts, but also was impressive on the mound. Compact delivery, short arm-swing, plenty of hand-speed and extension on the front-side, FB peaked 82 mph with a tight shaped slider. Time will tell where he projects more but right now he's established himself as a strong prospect on the mound. |
