2022 GRADS - LISTED ALPHABETICALLY
Logan Cindric, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 190-pounds. Strong build on a big frame.
Delivery: Attacks the plate with closed front side and some tilt. Powerful stride and tight glove side out front adds deception in the arm slot. FB up will be heavy, and good sinking action when lower in the zone.
Arm Action: RH. Very natural long arm action in a 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 82-84 mph. FB spin rate (2066) allows play up and down in the zone.
CB: 67-68 mph. Can vary the break on CB with smooth delivery. TrackMan shows same arm slot as FB.
SL: 71 mph. Similar speed and slot as CB but has a sweeping and very late break.
Cade Cushing, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP - Ranked #200 in California, #56 among RHP.
Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Tall, average build on lanky projectable frame.
Delivery: Minimalist rocking movement into a high leg kick and a quick downhill surge to release. Can be quick and efficient with runners on base avg. 1.1 to the plate.
Arm Action: RH. Creates whip from a high-3/4 arm slot. Repeatable healthy delivery.
FB: T86, 84-85 mph. Pounds bottom half of the zone well. Effective with FB ahead in the count up in the zone to put hitters away.
CB: 68-70 mph. Sharp movements and throws it with confidence. Will locate early in count for a strike.
CH: 78-79 mph. Good out-pitch as it mimics his FB well.
Erick Diez, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP - Ranked #227 in California, #63 among RHP.
Body: 6-0, 215-pounds. Large frame, big legs.
Delivery: Leg kick turns partially towards second while upper half stays commandingly tall. Lengthy Stride home and leaks out slightly towards first base upon release.
Arm Action: RH. Very over the top, the ball comes out near the top of the head above the ear.
FB: T89, 87-89 mph. Command is good, will challenge hitters aggressively with FB.
SL: 73-74 mph. Thrown hard over the top and sweeps away from a right handed batter. The break is late and sharp.
Phillip DiGirolamo, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Athletic frame with strong shoulders.
Delivery: Closed set, and weight offset to backside. Slight turn on leg lift and hides the ball well from the hitter. Effectively uses his body to create torque.
Arm Action: RH. Very “whippy” and low-3/4 release about shoulder height that adds deception at release.
FB: T83, 78-81 mph. Very good command on both sides of the plate. FB moves down and in to RHH about 15 inches on average according to TrackMan.
SL: 69-73 mph. Long sweeping action combined with late depth.
CH: 71-73 mph. Low slot and feel allow this to play well off the FB look, especially down in zone.
Evan Jeffery, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 5-9, 185-pounds. Broad, muscular build.
Delivery: Upright set position, hands at belly button, hips and shoulder flat and relaxed. Leg kick goes to 90 degrees hip high before, stacking low into his drive to the plate.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing down and back away from his body, the ball is exposed briefly behind his head before rotating into a reasonably high arm slot.
FB: T82, 79-81 mph. Has late run and can occasionally get his spin rate above 2000.
CB: 62-66 mph. His CB is thrown with the same energy as his FB but can be 15-20 mph slower. As he develops his CB spin and power, effectiveness will sky rocket as it already has great movement and depth.
SL: 67-69 mph. Uses in combination with his curveball. It comes from the same release point with a later tighter break.
Peter Jensen, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP – Ranked #249 in California, #70 among RHP.
Body: 6-0, 180-pounds. Strong back and legs. Very athletic physique.
Delivery: From set position, his weight offset to back side leg. Synchronous hands and front leg lift just above the hips, rotating slightly into a stacked upper body. His stride is not very long but has enough strength and rotational acceleration to really get moving downhill.
Arm Action: RH. With a little hitch just before a high hand separation, throwing arm circles back rhythmically on all pitches. Very natural arm slot and finishes on first base side, generates spins over 2200 rpm consistently on all pitches.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. He can make 85-86 look easy. Already has a spin rate over 2200.
CB: 65-68 mph. Good arm action and heavy spin creates a ton of depth for him. Looks like it changes speed and turns mid-flight. 11/5 movement and will use it early in counts to set up a slider.
SL: 71-73 mph. This pitch has bite. Good strikeout pitch, and a great counterpart to his curveball. 10-4 movement.
Branden Molthen, 2022
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds. Good athletic frame with a strong lower half.
Delivery: Wind up mimics the stretch with an added step towards 3rd. Almost no head movement or sway. Leg lift is to the middle of his torso. Rides his back leg down the mound leading with his hip. Gets his chest over his front leg, and then spins out towards third after release.
Arm Action: LH. Downswing then straight up behind his head. Straight over the top high release. On his CB he displays a more “circular” arm swing down and back.
FB: T83, 80-83 mph. Average spin rate of 2049 allows him to pitch up in the zone. Has late horizontal run with some depth.
CB: 64-67 mph. Big with steep tumbling action deep into the zone. Has feel and knows how to use the pitch to finish an at-bat.
CH: 76-77 mph. Good look off the quick arm action on his FB, presents like a BP fastball with some arm side life.
Xavier Nelson, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds. Strong lower half with a good frame up top.
Delivery: Stretch, leg lift to hip height with bases empty. Knee to knee approach with runners on. Hip hinge and load backside well.
Arm Action: RH. Whippy high-3/4.
FB: T77, 74-76 mph. Has action down and away to right-handed hitters. Has the ability to throw ground balls.
CH: 62-63 mph. Comes from the same release point as his FB with FB arm action. 10-13 mph minus from his fastball.
Joey Rodriguez, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-0, 190-pounds. Strong all around. Very athletic/muscular frame.
Delivery: Works from the stretch. Pre loads the back leg when set. Slight lean back at balance point. Back leg sweeping around at finish.
Arm Action: RH. Strong scap load to a high-3/4 release.
FB: T84, 81-83 mph. Go-to pitch. Likes to attack hitters early. Has the ability to spin the ball. Letting him fill the zone up more.
CB: 65-70 mph.
SL: 70 mph. Plays off the same release point as his fastball. Late tight break with good depth.
Peter Storjohann, 2022
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-4, 200-pounds. Lean, long and athletic proportions, prototypical pitcher’s body.
Delivery: From set low hands weight offset on the back side with a stiff front leg. 90 degree leg kick to belt, stays fairly open on leg kick. Lengthy stride, stays upright and balance in the center of the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Low separation, smooth circle back towards 2nd base into high release. Deceptive. Hides ball well.
FB: T85, 83-85 mph. Has the look of minimal effort while getting on hitters quick. Has late life up in the zone.
SL: 75-76 mph. Tight late downward action has the ability to produce a lot of ground balls.
CH: 78-79 mph. Carries the same path and has the same arm speed as the fastball.
