Mountain West Scout Day: Statistical Analysis

The Mountain West Scout Day in the books, we now take a look back at the standouts from yesterday's event. The Scout Day included a Pro-Style Workout where players ran a Laser Timed 60 Yard Dash, took a Batting Practice, Catcher Pop Times/Velocity, Outfield Evaluations/Velocity and Infield Evaluation/Velocity concluding with Pitches Bullpens. This was an exclusive event for players in the Mountain West program to highlight and promote players in their program.
The metrics collected at the Scout Day have been uploaded to each player's PBR Profile and we now break down the top statistical performers from Thursday's event with a handful of uncommitted underclassmen announcing their presence including a pair of Team Nevada representatives in last year's Future Games and Junior Future Games. 2023 1B/RHP, produced one of the top rounds of the day during the offensive evaluations while also showing improved actions around the bag at 1B. Junior Future Games attendee and 2024 C/3B, Connor Apeceche, earned the events top Pop Time at 1.95 while show pull side power potential. Uncommitted 2022 MIF, Nicky Garritano, may have had the most impressive overall day with his line drive filled batting practice round which he followed up with clean actions and fluid feet during his defensive evaluation. Fresh off of attending the Area Code ID Series in Pheonix, 2023 MIF Chaz McNelis, earned the events Top 60 Time then followed it up with the days top round batting practice where he was the lone prospect to leave the yard with a blast to right center field.
