Most Viewed in NC - No. 5 braxton stewart
Braxton Stewart, the LHP from East Forsyth HS that is committed to Louisville comes in at No. 5 on our Most Viewed Profile list for 2022. Stewart appeared at the PBR North Carolina ProCase in February, as he was in his basketball season. As basketball ended, PBR was able to see Stewart a couple of times in the spring season, a season that saw him work to get back to full form out of basketball while also battling through a virus that took another week of his spring season away.
Stewart is a highly projectable lefty that may not begin to scrape his ceiling until he is concentrating fully on baseball and able to add strength and weight with time in the weight room. As we approach the 2023 spring season and then the '23 MLB Draft, Stewart will continue to garner attention from baseball fans across the state.
Scouting Notes -- PBR ProCase (FEB 2022)
Louisville commit. Lanky, thin, and still maturing. Still early in the preseason as Braxton is playing basketball at the time of this bullpen. Fastball peaked at 85 with solid ride and 12in of horizontal run out of the hand. Solid feel for the change-up with fade and similar to the fastball. Change seemed to tunnel with the fastball out of the hand.
Scouting Notes -- Game Coverage (MAR 2022)
Louisville commit. Athleticism in a 6-foot-4, 170-pound thin, lanky frame that can hold added weight. Attacked the zone with a heavy dose of fastballs throughout the night. Fastball worked mostly at 86-87 mph early, touching 88 mph on occasion (1900-2300 spin). Settled in at 83-85 mph, touching 86 mph later in the outing. Moved his fastball to both sides of the plate getting arm side run when going away to right hand hitters. Mixed in a slider at 77-79 mph (1900-2000 spin). Used his slider mostly for chase getting it below the zone. Changeup has fade at 76-77 mph. Easy effort to his delivery, occasionally changing tempo, with a loose arm, high 3/4 slot. Worked with confidence and was efficient throwing 87 pitches in 7 innings. Two-sport athlete with projection ahead.
