Mid-Atlantic Procase: Rapid Reaction

The second annual Mid-Atlantic Procase was held on Saturday, February 9 at the Tuckahoe Sports. 25 players from Maryland and the Commonwealth were in attendance to perform in front of the PBR Scouting staff and scouts from multiple professional organizations.
In this week's PBR VA/DC Podcast, we discuss our quick-hitter thoughts on most of the players from the event. Today we give you our thoughts on a handful of players who stood out in a talented group on Saturday.
Jamari Baylor SS / 3B / Benedictine , VA / 2019
Baylor is a Louisburg CC commit and the top prospect in Virginia/DC in the 2019 class. He did not disappoint at the Procase, showing his wide range of tools. He had the top sprint with a blazing 30-yard dash of 3.76. He was smooth with soft, quick hands at short and free arm action. Showed a quick bat that the ball jumps off of, with an exit velocity of 95 with wood.
Jack Bulger C / 3B / DeMatha, MD / 2020
Bulger is a Vanderbilt commit and a bit of an athletic freak. He has an absurdly strong lower half yet still has good footspeed and quickness, running a 3.94 30 yard sprint. Quick release behind the plate with a strong arm, pop times were 1.94-2.00 with 82 as a position velocity. While all of that is stellar, its his bat that separates him. He consistently barrels the ball with violent contact and strength to all fields, he posted the top exit velocity with 102 with wood.
Trey Carter OF / RHP / Carlisle, VA / 2020
Speaking of freak athletes, the Florida State commit is another one. Loud tools are something he provides from a long lanky frame that still has a lot of projection left to it. Carter's arm was on display all day, tying for the top fastball while sitting 88-92 and also hitting 95 from the outfield. His quick bat was among the leaders as well with exit velocity of 95.
Tyler DeMartino OF / 3B / Whitman, MD / 2019
Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 2
Demartino is a West Virginia commit and is flat out strong. Showed immense power at the plate and an exit velocity of 96 with wood while also working all fields. Has quickness and some speed as well as a strong arm from the outfield, hitting 89.
Riley Eikhoff SS / RHP / Patriot, VA / 2020
Eikhoff is a Virginia commit and is still a true two-way player. On the mound, he showed feel for a quality three-pitch mix, including a fastball that sat 86-88 and touched 89. He was smooth at short with the strongest arm across the infield and showed some quickness and gap to gap power to both fields at the plate.
Braeson Fulton C / 3B / Riverheads, VA / 2020
Rankings StateRank: 27 / POS: 2
Fulton is a James Madison commit and first and foremost stood out receiving behind the plate during the bullpens, which can be a challenge when you haven't caught the guys throwing high level stuff at you. Showed some arm strength at 79 on his throw downs and the pop times were solid with 2.00-2.08. Fulton was also very impressive at the plate, barreling the ball consistently and with authority to all fields, exit velocity was 93 and he has a ton of untapped power potential that is coming soon.
Emmanuel Johnson OF / LHP / Liberty Christian, VA / 2019
Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 2
Add Johnson to the group of all-around physical freaks that were at this event. He is a Liberty commit who has become a true two-way prospect as his arm strength has dictated a move up on to the mound, where he was 86-88 with developing secondary pitches. He was 92 from the outfield and his batting practice might have been one of the loudest rounds of the day. Johnson is incredibly strong at contact and the ball explodes off his bat, line drive swing now generates some loft as he has immense power potential.
Ricky Jones OF / Hopewell, VA / 2019
Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 1
Jones is a Richmond commit and has continued his development from a defense and speed-first outfielder to an all-around prospect. He has quick feet in the outfield and his bat was greatly improved, short and quick to the ball with strength at contact and gap or more power present at this point.
Lyle Miller-Green RHP / 1B / Lake Braddock, VA / 2019
Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 7
Miller-Green is a George Mason commit and the mammoth right-hander had a strong day on the mound and easily threw the best breaking ball of all of the pitchers. His fastball was 85-88 with plane and late life, but the real gem was his slider, which came in around the 77-78 range. The pitch is a true swing and miss pitch with hard sharp break and good armspeed. Miller-Green still has projection left to his frame and could add a few more ticks as the spring progresses.
Geo Rivera RHP / OF / Lafayette, VA / 2019
Rivera is an Old Dominion commit and was Virginia's representative at the Super 60 in Chicago. Geo again had a strong showing at the Procase, with the top fastball velocity, sitting 88-92. He got his velocity with easy effort and also showed a ton of strength at the plate with one of the top exit velocities, 99 with wood. Rivera is also not slow, running a 4.16 30-yard sprint.
Justin Starke C / 3B / Prince George, VA / 2019
Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
Starke is a VMI commit and like Fulton stood out receiving during the bullpen sessions. He showed some arm strength on his throws down at 79 and his bat continues to be a good gap power bat with the potential to grow into some true pull power as he gets stronger. Good approach barreling the ball and using all fields.
Cade Swisher SS / 2B / Cosby, VA / 2019
Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 4
Swisher is a Virginia Tech commit and has gotten a lot stronger this winter. He hits from the left side and the swing is very short to the ball with loft built into it and good extension through the ball. He is very strong at contact and his doubles power should begin to manifest as pull home run power as the season progresses. Quick player laterally who is also smooth on the infield.

Weisner is a Furman commit who put in an all-around strong day. At the plate, he showed barrel awareness and used the whole field, where he has easy extra-base power everywhere. At third, he has athletic clean feet and some arm strength. |
