The Kenosha Preseason ID kicked off our Preseason ID tour on January 28. We’ve started our coverage with some Quick Hits and a look at the Stats Posted. We have already rolled out the catching, outfield, and infield analysis and today we continue with the pitchers.
Top Pitching Prospects
1. Elijah Campbell, RHP, South Milwaukee, 2018
6-foot-5, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, long lanky frame, highly projectable. Delivery is athletic, wide rocker step to loose knee lift, works down the hill., uses slide step in stretch. Arm action is quick and loose, high ¾ slot, slight head and shoulder tilt at release, projects well. Fastball has some tilt, 85-87 mph. Curveball showed tight spin, 11/5 shape, 69-71 mph. Straight changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed, 76-78 mph, occasional sink. Campbell is a high follow 2018 prospect.
2. Austin Glidden, RHP/INF, Westosha Central, 2019
Wiry loose frame, 6-foot-1, 145-pound two-way player, projectable build. Projects best on the mound, tall and fall delivery, athletically smooth down the hill, works on line, squared landing, athletic finish. Showed poise and feel on the mound. Arm action is loose and quick, high ¾ slot, easy effort. Fastball played with lively arm side run, showed feel for the zone, 81-83 mph. Curveball has sharp 12/6 action, showed control in the zone, 68-69 mph. Good feel for changeup, fading action, thrown near fastball arm speed, 74-76 mph. Right-handed hitter, slightly open stance, short stride, tall upright finish. Line drive contact with some opposite field tendency. 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played just as well as on the mound, 85 mph across the diamond. Good body control, athletic defender, soft hands. 4.50 runner down the line.
3. Will Bush, RHP, New Berlin West, 2018
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed pitcher. Repeatable delivery, stays balanced and over the balls of his feet. Arm action showed quickness, short high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, four seam type, 82-83 mph. Curveball has sweeping action on 10/4 plane, 74-77 mph. Changeup is thrown with deceptive arm speed, sinks with occasional cut, 75-78 mph.
4. Jarrett Ramer, RHP/1B, Kenosha Bradford, 2019
5-foot-11, 155-pound two-way player, average frame and build. Showed advanced arm strength for his age. On the mound delivery works slightly across his body with occasional recoil finish on fastball. Works with some effort, arm is live, quick and loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball tops at 83 mph, sits 80-82 mph, mostly straight, four seam type. Curveball has 10/4 shape, showed feel, 68-71 mph. Straight changeup is firm with fastball arm speed, 77-79 mph. Arm also showed carry across the diamond at 81 mph. Showed natural footwork around the bag, athletic and plays through the ball. Right-handed hitter, slightly open stance, heel lift trigger. Showed bat speed, uphill path, 87 mph exit velocity from the tee. 4.72 runner down the line.
5. Isaac Dirker, RHP, Howards Grove, 2018
Long lanky, projectable frame, 6-foot-6, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall and fall delivery, stays upright, regular effort. Arm action is loose, quick arm, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight arm side run, 78-79 mph, topped at 80 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, throws aggressively, 67-69 mph. Changeup sinks, was typically down, thrown with arm speed, 69-74 mph. 2018 arm with plenty of upside.
6. Tyler Moilanen, RHP, Tremper, 2017
6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, lanky frame. Tall and fall delivery, rotational some, can get more out of lower half. Arm action is short and quick, high ¾ slot, on top and works downhill. Fastball topped at 82 mph, sat 79-81 mph, some sink. Breaking ball has slurve type action, 10/4 shape, 66-68 mph. Changeup is down, consistently stays on top, 74-77 mph.
7. Cody Horon, 3B/RHP, Union Grove, 2020
6-foot-1, 197-pound right-handed hitting 3B/RHP with a strong frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a leg kick stride and good balance. Pull, power approach at the plate with an uphill swing path and fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. 5.00 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange and average hands. Throws showed carry across the infield at 80 mph. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort and some rhythm. Fastball has some tilt at 79 topping out at 80 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 67-68 mph. Changeup has sinking action with fastball arm speed at 68-70 mph.
8. Brady Fields, SS/RHP, Badger, 2018
Lanky, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, right-handed hitting SS/RHP. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open setup with a short stride and average balance. Line drive hitter with an uphill swing path and fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.66 runner down the line. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with a compact exchange. Threw 81 mph across the infield. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort. Smooth rhythm working in line with home plate. Fastball was mostly straight showing occasional running action at 77-80 topping out at 81 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 63-64 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 65-68 mph.
9. Matthew True, RHP, Indian Trail, 2018
Thin wiry frame, 5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed pitcher. Works slightly uptempo, balanced with high front side, regular effort. Arm action has backswing with short over the top slot. Fastball is straight with some tilt, 78-79 mph. Curveball showed as best pitch, 12/6 shape, sharp action, throws aggressively, 65-68 mph, has feel. Changeup was down in the zone, 68-71 mph, some sink.
10. Harry Orth, RHP, Tremper, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort, lands square working towards his target. Arm action is short from a high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, 77-79 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 66-69 mph, showed feel. Changeup sinks at 67-72 mph.

Zach Asik, LHP/OF, Wisconsin Lutheran, 2018
5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting LHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Ball comes out tight to the head. Drop and drive delivery working in line with home plate. Square landing with good balance throughout. Fastball sat 70-71 topping out at 72 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape with some depth at 58-59 mph. Changeup sat 64-66 mph. Defensively has a short, loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange and quick footwork. Threw 81 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a wide base with a balanced setup. Linear lower half with good balance. Opposite field hitter with a level swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.26 runner down the line.
Dalton Damon, RHP/OF, Burlington, 2020
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing and athletic finish. Fastball flashed cutting action at 71-72 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape and occasionally flashed depth at 64-66 mph. Changeup has downer action 65-67 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and fair balance. Short, level swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.50 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws, throwing 75 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with quick, fluid footwork and a clean exchange.
Nicholas Draheim, RHP, Waterford Union, 2017
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, average build. Long arm action from a ¾ slot, some looseness. Delivery is online, some rhythm, follows finish. Fastball has run and sink, 74-75 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, some backup action, 61-64 mph. Changeup fades with sink, 60-62 mph.
James Drichas, RHP, Grayslake North (IL), 2019
6-foot-5, 165-pound right-handed pitcher, thin build with long limbs. Tall and fall delivery, finishes to first base side. Arm action is long and firm, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight cut, 72-74 mph, topped out at 75 mph. Curveball showed some depth, 11/5 shape, gradual action 62-63 mph. Changeup is 67-69 mph, good action is the zone.
Reese Dutton, INF/RHP, Tremper, 2019
6-foot, 155-pound two-way player. Defensively arm played well across the diamond, over the top slot, 81 mph across the diamond. Actions are loose, clean through the baseball, showed playable hands. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, slightly dives to pull contact. Short path, pull side contact, occasional uphill. Fastball topped at 78 mph, sat 76-77 mph, mostly straight. Curveball played with 12/6 shape at times, showed feel for the zone, 68-70 mph. Changeup has fastball arm speed, 72-73 mph.
Tanner Fields, C/RHP, Badger, 2018
Lean athletic body type, 6-foot-1, 165-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, open stance, bat wrap load, leg kick back to square. Mechanically sound approach, gap to gap contact with opposite field tendency. 80 mph exit velocity from the tee. 4.80 runner down the line. Arm plays from a short high ¾ slot, 71 mph. 2.19-2.37 pop times. Arm works out of same slot on the mound with more length. Uses slide step out of the stretch, delivery is on line. Fastball showed cut action, 72-74 mph, touched 76 mph. Curveball has 10/4 shape with short break, showed feel for the zone, 62-64 mph. Changeup is straight with slight arm side action, thrown with fastball arm speed, 66-69 mph.
Jacob Gerzel, OF/RHP, Wilmot, 2018
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball. Raw arm strength from the outfield throwing 85 mph. At the plate hits from a tall, balanced setup with an arm bar start. Short, uphill swing path, flashed raw power in batting practice. Showed strength thru contact with 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.33 runner down the line. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action and draw out of the glove. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Upright finish with occasional recoil. Fastball sat 77-80 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape with minimal breaking action. Showed feel for his changeup with running and occasional fading action at 69-74 mph.
Erik Hanschke, RHP, West Bend West, 2018
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed pitcher, lean build. Delivery is rotational working from a lower ¾ slot, long loose arm action, upright finish. Fastball has action to arm side, 77-79 mph. Curveball has 10/4 shape, 65-68 mph, sweeping type action. Slider also sweeps, 68-69 mph, similar action to curveball.
Chris Heywood, OF/RHP, Loyola (IL), 2018
5-foot-11, 200-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a strong frame. At the plate hits from an open stance with a leg kick stride and average balance. Pull, power hitter with a short, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 91 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.44 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with slower actions. Throws showed carry throwing 83 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall, slow paced delivery working in line with home plate. Regular effort with a square landing. Fastball worked mostly up in the zone at 78-79 topping out at 80 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 67-60 mph. Changeup sat 71-73 mph.
Benjamin Hoyt, RHP/3B, Lakes (IL), 2020
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing. Fastball flashed sinking action at 68-69 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with gradual action at 55-58 mph. Changeup sat 59-61 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short leg lift stride. Short, uphill swing path. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. 5.20 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Threw 66 mph across the infield.
Kyle Humphres, LHP/1B, Tremper, 2018
6-foot-2, 160-pound left-handed hitting LHP/1B. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, stiff arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Short stride with regular effort. Fastball flashed sinking action at 71-73 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape at 61-65 mph. Changeup sat 62-65 mph. Offensively hits from a balanced, open setup with a drop load and short stride. Uphill swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.61 runner down the line. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with average hands. Threw 71 mph across the infield.
Spencer Lehmann, LHP/1B, Kenosha Bradford, 2019
5-foot-10, 170-pound two-way player. On the mound delivery works with regular effort, lands square. Arm action separates deep, working through short window from an over the top slot. Fastball is mostly straight, occasional cut, 67-70 mph, touched 71 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape, showed better feel of it from the stretch, 56-59 mph. Changeup sinks, 60-63 mph. Left-handed hitter, tall setup with short stride. Short path in and out of the zone, lifting contact favoring pull side. 76 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed above average actions for his age. Short over the top arm action, 75 mph across the diamond, 4.90 runner down the line.
Cameron Nahf, RHP/1B, Shoreland Lutheran, 2018
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting RHP/1B. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery working exclusively out of the stretch. Open toed landing. Fastball was mostly straight showing occasional sink at 71-72 topping out at 73 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 57-60 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 65-66 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced, closed setup with a short stride and average balance. Line drive hitter with an uphill swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.80 runner down the line. Defensively has along arm action from a low ¾ slot. Threw 71 mph across the infield.
Sam Scarlato, RHP/3B, Indian Trail, 2020
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B. On the mound works form a low ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Drop and drive delivery with a toe closed landing and smooth rhythm. Works fast and filled up the zone. Fastball sat 73-75 mph. Curveball has sweeping action at 62-64 mph. Maintained fastball arm speed on changeup at 68-71 mph. Parker Schaefer, RHP/OF, Franklin, 2020
5-foot-10, 135-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Slow paced tall and fall delivery with a closed toe landing. Good balance throughout delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 66-70 topping out at 71 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 59-61 mph. Changeup sat 64-66 mph. Mitchell Seager, OF/LHP, Beloit Turner, 2018
6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP with a strong frame. Took one of the best rounds of batting practice of the event. Hits from a balanced, open setup with a smooth load and good balance. Showed explosion in the lower half. Line drive, gap to gap hitter with fluid rhythm and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 93 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.29 runner down the line. Defensively has a long, stiff arm action from a high ¾ slot. Clean exchange with average hands. Threw 77 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Good tempo and balance in delivery. Fastball sat 70-71 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape at 60-63 mph. Changeup sat 65-66 mph.
Griffin Spranger, LHP, Warren (IL), 2020
5-foot-11, 150-pound left-handed pitcher, wiry frame. Delivery is on line, regular effort. Arm action wraps, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight arm side run, 69-70 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape, 59-61 mph. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed, fade to arm side, occasional sink, 64-67 mph.
Scotty Starovich, LHP, Indian Trail, 2019
6-foot-3, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Arm action is short and loose, high ¾ slot. Slight drop and drive. Fastball is straight, creates slight angle, showed control of the zone. Curveball has slurve type action, 61-64 mph. Changeup 63-67 mph.
Dante Whitbeck, RHP, Indian Trail, 2017
5-foot-10, 154-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall and fall delivery, forward rocker step, lands closed, finishes to first base side. Arm action is long, over the top slot. Fastball is 72-74 mph, mostly straight. Curveball has 11/5 shape, gradual action, 58-61 mph. Straight changeup is 64-67 mph, occasional sink.
Jordan Ziolkowski, SS/RHP, Delavan Darien, 2017
6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting SS/RHP. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a long leg kick stride and average balance. Pull hitter with a short, uphill swing path.
