In his home state, on the summer’s biggest stage, 2022 OF Justin Thomas (Benedictine Military, GA) seized the opportunity of playing against the top uncommitted underclassmen in the country, and elevated his game to a higher level. The athletic, 5-foot-11, 173-pound outfielder helped lead Team Georgia to a 3-0 record by filling the stat sheet with impressive numbers. Thomas was 5-for-6 across three games against premium pitching, including a monster home run to cap things off, and cement his place as MVP of the prestigious Future Games.

A consummate “gamer", Thomas came into the event having had a strong summer, in which he showcased a knack for finding consistent barrels while also exhibiting a high motor, even in the heat of the Georgia summer. The 6.8 runner possesses some current compact strength, and his quick hands allowed him to work gap-to-gap throughout the workout on Day 1 before providing  a glimpse at even more power in game.

Said PBR Georgia scouting director, Phil Kerber:

“Thomas was one of the top bats we saw at Lakepoint all summer. A prototypical leadoff hitter with quick hands, he finds barrels to all fields, and has strike zone discipline. Plus, he has the defensive talent to stick in centerfield. Any questions about his power potential were put to rest in his final at-bat with the big home run. Quiet confidence, and his play speaks for itself.”

Only Georgia’s second year with a full team, this marks the first time an MVP has come from the Peach State, but likely not the last given the elite talent that the state produces each year. Below, a look at past MVP winners at the Future Games:
