May 13, 2020
With the recent release of our Updated Class of 2021 State Rankings, our scouting staff took a deeper dive into the prospects in the 2021 class. By position, we will comb through the list, highlighting some of the top talent in each class. In this installment, we will take a look at left-handed pitchers in the 2021 class.
Louisiana's 2021 player rankings includes 12 southpaws overall including 3 prospects ranked in the top 40 and 9 in the top 100. At the top of the left-handed pitcher rankings is Louisiana’s No. 10 overall prospect, Benjamin Tate (Teurlings Catholic HS). The athletic left-hander features a three-pitch mix with solid command.
Tate is followed up by No. 26 Gavin Leblanc (Iota HS), a Future Games participant in 2019 with steep downhill tilt. Rounding out the top 3 is Louisiana-Lafayette recruit in No. 31 Adam Guth (Barbe HS) an projectable lefty with quick arm speed and true feel for spin.
