Illinois Class of 2023 Rankings: Risers
September 8, 2021
With the summer circuit officially coming to an end and the fall transition beginning, an overhaul to the 2023 rankings was overdue. Last week we updated the Illinois 2023 rankings, as well as expanded it by 50 players.
We expanded the class from 125 prospects to 175 as we continue to build off the knowledge we’ve collected throughout the calendar year of this group, most notably the busy/compact spring season as well as the summer. We broke down Illinois’ top-10 players in the state’s 2023 class on Friday, which you can find here.
Today, we’ll shine some light on prospects that were already on our board that rose a few spots, including some players that really propelled themselves up the rankings after consistently impressing our scouting staff.
RISING INTO THE TOP-50
Several of the most substantial ‘Risers’ in this class actually made their way into the top-10: C Ryan Bakes (Huntley; South Carolina commit), OF Dillon Head (Homewood-Flossmoor; Michigan), C Colin Barczi (Naperville Central; Vanderbilt), and LHP Tore Indomenico (St. Ignatius; Notre Dame). We broke down these players inside our top-10 story, released last week, so we’ll spend the time today assessing the players rising up the board, inside the top-50 of a deep class.
In that same rankings update piece, we covered top-20-ranked players like OF Brayden Bakes (Huntley; uncommitted), C/RHP T.J. Schuyler (Antioch; Indiana), and RHP/INF Benjamin Oosterbaan (Hinsdale Central; Michigan).
