Future Games Commits
August 30, 2018
There is no better experience for an uncommitted prospect than at the PBR Future Games. With more than 250 college coaches in attendance this year, it truly was a one stop shop for talent. This week, in conjunction with the recently released Overall 2020 Rankings, On the Hunt dives into some of the prospects that committed to college programs immediately following their impressive performances in Indianapolis.
Reuben Church 3B / 1B / Maryville, TN / 2020Church committed to Kentucky shortly after his breakout performance at the Future Games. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound third baseman has the physical frame and the power potential that scouts crave. The right-handed hitter has a flat path through the zone as he sets up slightly closed and crouched. He effortlessly drove the ball to each gap in batting practice before tapping into his projectable power in games. Church pulled a home run to left field early on in the event before smashing a no-doubt grand slam to the opposite field. He has a quiet approach with a simple load, and his strong wrists and forearms combine with a more developed lower-half to showcase impressive current power. Only serving to boost his stock as a prospect, Church was impressive on defense where he possesses soft, confident hands with a strong arm as well as the athleticism to make the slow-roll play look easy. There is plenty to like about Church moving forward, and if he continues his steady progression, it is viable that he could become one of the top bats in the class. |
