Florida Underclass Games Preview

The Underclass Games is one of the premier underclass events in the state. Over the last year, there have been 29 commitments from the 2018-2020 classes with 23 of those being to Division I programs. Past events have featured players like Jackson Miller (Wake Forest), Juson Fabian (Florida), Brandon Walker (Florida State), Ryan McCauley (Tennessee) and McGwire Holbrook (West Virginia) to name a few.

This year’s event is filled with talented, uncommitted players from the 2019-2021 classes. A few players to watch are a trio of Team Florida participants from the 2017 Future Games. Twin brothers 2020s Ryan and Jaden Bruno stood out with Team Florida. Both have similar frames with long arms and plenty of room to fill out. 2020 LHP/OF Ryan Bruno was up to 86 mph and showed some power potential from the left side. 2020 RHP/OF Jaden Bruno has  a quick arm and was up to 87 mph. 2019 SS Luis Ruiz has shown the ability to be an above average defender and a feel for the barrel from the right side.

2019 RHP Mitchell Leroy has long legs and a projectable frame. He has worked 86-89 mph and shown the potential for an above average slider. 2020 LHP Mason Miller stands at 6-foot-2 and has shown feel for three pitches with a high ceiling. 2019 3B/RHP Carmine Lane is athletic, has offensive power potential and a quick arm on the mound.

2019 IF Tanner Mink has continued to get stronger and has shown some power potential and offensive upside. 2020 INF Zac Veen has stood out during the summer with a projectable frame, agility in the field and an advanced left-handed swing. 2020 IF Alec Ducassee has shown the ability to be an above average to plus defender in the middle with offensive potential. 2020 OF Bailey Uderitz has a projectable frame with a quality gate and power potential. 2020 C Matthew Menendez has a stocky, strong frame and shown above average defensive ability and offensive potential.

8:20-8:50 AM – Position Player Check-in

8:50-9:00 AM – Introduction and Stretch

9:00-10:45 AM – Position Player Pro-Style Workout

(Note: Once all position players have checked in, we will immediately begin the pro-style workout)

11 AM –  Team 1 vs Team 2
