Fall Prospect League: Week Two

Sunday September 27th, was the second week end of the Fall Prospect Program at Arkansas Tech University. The teams competed in two highly competitive games below is a recap of both games
Game 1 Maroon 6 vs Purple 6
The game was a split into two half the first four innings and the last five innings with both teams controlling all phases of their half.
In the first four innings the Purple team outscored the maroon team 5-1 led by a big day from 2017 OF Caleb Moody who had 2 hits on the day including an RBI triple and a run scored in the bottom of the 4th. He scored when 2018 MIF/OF Stratton Whittington doubled.
The last five innings the Maroon team outscored the purple team 5-1 and ended the game all knotted up. The Maroon team was led by 2019 OF Alex Cauley who had two hits including a leadoff double to start the game and later scored on a passed ball.
On the mound two players that stood out were 2019 LHP Landry Wilkerson for the Maroon team he worked out of a two runners no one out jam in the 8th to hold off a rally by the Purple team by locating his fastball down in the zone on both sides of the plate. For the Purple Team 2018 Stratton Whittington cruised through two innings of work faces 7 hitters.
Game 2 Orange 8 vs Black 4
The Orange team picked up their second victory. They used a balanced offensive attack with 13 hits from 8 players do finish their day. Offensively they were led by 2017 C Quinn Cherry. Cherry had 3 knocks on the afternoon including two, two RBIs including a two out double.
The Black team was lead by 2017 CIF Shelby Quiggins, Quiggins had two hits and a walk. He was also impressive playing a solid third base making several tough plays.
The Orange team received sound pitching by two of their younger players 2018 Ty Barrett had a strong showing in the 3rd recording two strike outs, while 2018 RHP Tre Tucker struck out the side in the 8th. 2017 Andrew Howard was strong for the Black team competing in the strike zone with a solid fastball and complimenting it with an 11/5 curveball with some depth.
