Class of 2019 Showcase: Outfield Analysis

The Class of 2019 Showcase took place on Sunday, October 15 at the MAX in McCook, IL. This event featured over 90 prospects from the Class of 2019. Shortly following the event we rolled out the full Statistical Analysis and Quick Hits from the event.
Today we continue the positional analysis by breaking down the outfielders in attendance. Beiker Fuentes (Crystal Lake South) and Cameron Kissel (Plainfield North) both put up impressive stat lines and lead the list of outfielders. Physical left/left Logan Bibb (Mascoutah) comes in at No. 3 thanks to big power potential in his left-handed bat.
Top Outfield Prospects
1. Beiker Fuentes, OF/SS, Crystal Lake South, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound switch hitting OF/SS. High level athlete, solidified himself as one of the top players in Illinois at the event. Filled out the state sheet running a 6.79 60-yard dash, plus arm strength throwing 86 mph across the infield and 93 mph from the outfield. Offensively relaxed setup with good balance from both sides of the plate. Linear leg lift stride with plus bat speed and a slightly uphill swing path. Mechanically repeats well from both sides. Presently stronger from right side where he shows a line drive middle of the field approach. 80 mph exit velocity right-handed and 79 mph exit velocity left-handed. Defensively in the outfield shows natural, fluid actions playing theu the ball. Quick footwork, takes efficient routes. Throws showed easy carry at 93 mph. In the infield displayed soft, sure hands with a swift transfer working thru the baseball. Throws showed carry across the infield at 86 mph.
2. Cameron Kissel, OF/RHP, Plainfield North, 2019
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a strong, athletic frame. Kissel impressed on the day with his raw stat line including outfield velocity (93 mph), fastball velocity (89 mph), and exit velocity (100 mph). In the outfield has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange and quick footwork. Throws showed carry. At the plate open setup with a short stride back to even. Arm bar load with good balance. Fluid rhythm with a short level swing path and a fast bat. Ran the 60 at 7.16. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Wrap on the backside. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Square landing with smooth rhythm. Fastball sat 88-89 mph, worked mostly up in the zone. Curveball has 12-6 shape with short breaking action at 74-78 mph, flashed sharp action at times. Changeup has running action at 78-80 mph for strikes.
3. Logan Bibb, OF/LHP, Mascoutah, 2019
6-foot-2, 207-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP with a strong frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup. Long leg kick stride, maintains balance. Pull, power approach at the plate with fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact in BP, 89 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.02. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws from the outfield at 80 mph. Online actions, works thru the ball ball with quick footwork. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball worked downhill at 76-79 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape with gradual action at 67-69 mph. Slider sat 70-73 mph. Changeup sat 71-74 mph. Projects best as a power hitting corner outfielder.
4. Darrius Little, OF, Simeon, 2019
5-foot-10, 154-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a wiry, athletic frame. One of the top runners from the event running the 60 at 6.76. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 83 mph from the outfield. Athletic actions, fluid footwork with soft hands. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open setup. Smooth load with a short stride. Fluid rhythm, line drive approach at the plate. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee.
5. Bennett Eltoft, OF, St. Francis, 2019
6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with a lanky, projectable frame. Stood out in his batting practice session. Balanced setup, smooth load, with a leg lift stride. Good balance and leverage thru contact. Gap to gap hitter with fluid rhythm. Loose hands generating good bat speed. 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.75. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and a clean exchange. Threw 74 mph from the outfield.

Rocco Arcieri, OF, De La Salle, 2019
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Wide setup at the plate, leg lift stride with average balance. Early rhythm with an uphill swing path. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.19. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball, throws showed carry at 79 mph.
Shaquan Bowens, OF/RHP, TF North, 2019
5-foot-4, 150-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with quick, fluid footwork. Plus accuracy, threw 80 mph from the outfield. Ast the plate balanced setup short leg lift stride, stiff front leg landing. Long, uphill swing path. 73 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.27. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort. Fastball has sinking action, with occasional cut at 71-73 mph. Curveball has gradual action at 64-66 mph. Changeup sat 65-67 mph.
Cole Chiovari, OF, Maine South, 2019
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a lanky, thin frame. Offensively tall setup, short, leg kick stride with fair balance. Line drive hitter with a slightly uphill swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.29. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with a long exchange. Threw 82 mph from the outfield.
Jason Cihak, OF/2B/RHP, Neuqua Valley, 2019
5-foot-5, 130-pound left-handed hitting utility player. At the plate narrow setup, low hand set, leg kick stride. Opposite field hitter. 78 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.21. Defensively took drills in the infield and outfield, projects best in the outfield. Plays thru the ball with quick footwork. Threw 80 mph from the outfield. Threw 72 mph across the infield. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 71-73 mph. Curveball has gradual action at 55-60 mph. Changeup has slight running action at 61-64 mph. Threw strikes.
Pedro Cora, OF/LHP, Clemente, 2019
5-foot-10, 160-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork. Threw 78 mph from the outfield. At the plate balanced slightly open setup. No lower half involvement. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.87. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Drop and drive delivery with regular effort. Fastball has cutting action at 69-71 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape at 61-64 mph. Changeup has fading action at 64-67 mph.
Luke Fisher, OF, Geneva, 2019
5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with a strong, athletic frame. At the plate crouched, knee to knee setup. Long stride with good balance. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path and a fast bat. 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.51. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with average hands. Threw 78 mph from the outfield.
Michael Gattuso, OF, St. Charles North, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Best tool is the run tool, ran the 60 at 6.82. At the plate balanced setup, tense load. Short, uphill swing path. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Threw 74 mph from the outfield.
John Hamer, OF/RHP, St. Charles North, 2019
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. At the plate balanced setup, short leg lift stride, sits on the backside. Opposite field hitter. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.05. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Slower actions playing thru the ball with a clean exchange. Threw 80 mph from the outfield. Will Hissong, 2B/RHP/OF, Hononegah, 2019
5-foot-11, 155-pound left-handed hitting utility player. Offensively hits from a wide base, quick leg kick stride. Long, uphill swing path with average balance. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.75. Defensively has a loose arm action from a ¾ slot. Threw 77 mph across the infield and 80 mph across the infield. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery, coil at balance point. Works across body. Fastball was straight at 75-77 mph. Curveball has slurve action at 60-63 mph. Changeup sat 68-69 mph.
Steven Kronenberger, OF/RHP, Chicago Christian, 2019
5-foot-6, 135-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throw from the outfield at 75 mph. Crouched setup at the plate, weight shift load to backside. Uphill swing path. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.37. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Stretch only, tall and fall delivery with a square landing. Fastball sat 71-72 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 63-64 mph. Changeup was straight at 67-70 mph.
Jared Lombardi, OF, Loyola, 2019
5-foot-8, 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a strong, compact frame. Offensively hits from a tall, slightly open setup. Short stride back to even with good balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm and a short, uphill swing path. 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.18. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Quick footwork playing thru the ball. Quick, clean exchange, Threw 76 mph from the outfield.
John Meyers, OF/RHP, Batavia, 2019
6-foot-1, 155-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a thin, lanky frame. Ran the 60 at 6.97. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 81 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange. Soft hands with aggressive actions. Offensively open setup, short stride to even. Long, uphill swing path. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 72-74 topping out at 76 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 67-70 mph. Changeup blended with fastball at 70-72 mph.
John Pappas, C/OF, Lincoln-Way East, 2019
5-foot-4, 150-pound catcher, strong stocky build. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, slightly closed, short stride. Path is level, minimal effort, 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played long, 69 mph from the outfield, 67 mph out of the crouch. 2.84-2.94 pop times. Ran the 60 at 7.91.
Henry Pelinski, OF/LHP, New Trier, 2019
6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP. At the plate hits from a crouched setup, handload to backside, average balance. Uphill swing path with effort. 89 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.07. Defensively plays thru the ball, quick footwork, plays fast. ¾ arm slot with a long arm action. Threw 80 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from a low ¾ to side arm angle. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate, effort in release. Upright finish. Fastball sat 74-78 topping out at 80 mph. SLider has sweeping action at 65-68 mph. Maintains arm speed on changeup at 75-76 mph for strikes, blends with fastball.
Victor Robles, OF/LHP, Prospect, 2019
5-foot-7, 130-pound left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Offensively balanced setup, short toe tap stride with a long level swing path. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm. 75 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.74. In the outfield short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange. Throws worked uphill at 74 mph. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a long stride. Fastball was straight at 68-70 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape at 54-58 mph. 5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively hits from an open stance with a spread out setup. Toe tap stride, drives lower half. Wyatt Simpson, OF/2B, Hononegah, 2019
5-foot-8, 140-pound right-handed hitting OF/2B. Defensively projects best in the outfield. Short arm action from a high ¾ slot, plays thru the ball, long exchange.
