With the fall season coming to a close and the NCAA Signing Period less than two weeks away, we are highlighting the top uncommitted prospects in the senior class this week. We continue today with catchers.
Best Hitting Prospect: Billy Hitman, Pope John Paul II
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter. Relaxed set-up with simple approach; keeps body and head still throughout swing. Exhibits a feel for the barrel with gap power (88-mph) and solid wheels (6.83 60-yard dash). At the 2015 Top Prospect Games, he posted an in-game pop time of 2.12 and showed solid defensive tools across the board despite being primarily an infielder to this point in his career.
Best Power Prospect: Dutch Reardon, Plymouth Whitemarsh
6-foot-2, 200-pound left-handed hitter who posted an 87-mph exit velocity at the 2015 Preseason All-State Showcase. Simple swing mechanics with good balance, posture, and extension through the contact zone. If he can make more consistent contact, the power can be legit in game action, as we saw him launch a long home run at Temple University during game action the summer before.
Best Defensive Prospect & Best Arm Strength: Joseph Sibeto, Chartiers Valley
As a rising sophomore, Sibeto was unleashing 81-mph arm strength from the crouch and producing 1.96-2.03 pop times in workouts. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed hitter's defense is ahead of his offense, although he has strength in his frame and has shown some ability to drive the baseball (one-third of hits over past two high school seasons have gone for extra bases).
