As June ends we really begin our look at the 2017 class and the top players that are uncommitted, that is or should be getting attention from colleges across the region. Today we will look at the top Right-Handed Pitchers
2017 RHP Hayden Arnold, Watson Chapel High School
Arnold is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and an average build. He pitches from an H ¾ arm slot with a loose arm. He uses a repeatable rushed delivery with a slight balance point. He commands his fastball 83-85 mph with arm side run. He compliments his fastball with three different secondary pitches. He commands a slider, curveball and changeup. The change up is the best secondary pitch thrown 70-72 mph the arm side run thrown with fastball arm speed. The curveball and slider are serviceable thrown with near fastball arm speed and gradual movement. Overall Arnold has a feel to pitch with a loose arm, he projects to throws harder as he matures physically.
2017 RHP Logan Gilbertson, Cabot High School
Gilbertson is a 6-foot-5 190-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. He commands the strike zone with his fastball 84-86 mph. He shows command of his 11/5 curveball thrown 72-74 mph with late break. He uses an H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm with a slight stab. He repeats his delivery with choppy rhythm. He has an athletic finish. Overall Gilbertson is a projectable right-hander that has started to show a velocity jump, showing up to 88 mph. A player on the rise that is flying under the radar.
2017 RHP Drew Mullins Greene County Tech High School
Mullins is a 6-foot-4 185-pound right-hander with an athletic frame and build. His arm action is loose from an H ¾ arm slot. He uses a repeatable delivery with limited drive on his lower half. He commands the bottoms half of the strike zone with his fastball 83-85 mph with slight sink. He throws a sharp curveball 71-74 mph with limited command but sharp break. He commands a change up with arm side run thrown 69-71 mph. Overall Mullins is a large framed athlete with a loose projectable arm.
2017 RHP Jacob Williams, Bentonville High School
Williams is a 6-foot-0 175-pound right-hander with an average frame and athletic build. He uses a short quick arm with a fastball 84-86 mph with late life through the strike zone. He commands a 12/6 breaking ball with late break. He uses quick rhythm and does a sound job staying balanced throughout his delivery with an athletic finish. Overall Williams competes with two solid pitches and has shown the ability to put hitters away with an advanced breaking ball.
2017 RHP Dustin Roach, Springdale High School
Roach is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right hander with an athletic frame and build. He pitches from multiple arm slots but is most consistent from a low ¾ arm slot where he works 84-86 mph with sink. He commands his slider that has Frisbee action with late break. He is sound mechanically repeating his delivery and rhythm. He gets extension to the plate and uses an athletic finish. Overall Roach has advanced pitchability with a quick arm.
