Arkansas Insider: Uncommitted Outfielders

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The early signing period, has been exciting with 45 players making their college commitments official. After the dust has settled, I would like to step back and look at the top players that are available in the 2017 class at each position. Today we will look at outfielders.

Chase Bryan, OF, White Hall HS
Bryan is a 6-foot 180-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and physical build. He runs a 6.55 in the 60. Defensively he works through the baseball with fluid footwork. He uses a quick exchange and a short accurate arm. Offensively he uses a crouched stance with a smooth load, short stride and fast bat speed. He has a slight uphill swing bath that shows rotation at times. He has shown the sporadic ability to hit for power producing exit velocity up 91 mph. Overall Bryan is a premium athlete that seems to be figuring the rest of the game out as he matures.

Haven Hunter, OF, Lonoke HS
Hunter is a 5-foot-10 160-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and build. He runs a 6.68 in the 60. He shows solid defensive instincts, he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork. He uses an average exchange and an accurate arm that throws the ball 83 mph from the outfield. Offensively he uses a rotational slight uphill swing to produce exit velocity up to 85 mph. Overall Hunter is an above average athlete with solid defensive instincts, offensively he has bat speed, will just need to refine his skill set.

McCall Dail, OF Conway High School
Dail is a 5-foot-9 165-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and a physical build. Offensively he starts from a balanced stance with a slight load and big stride. He attacks the baseball with average bat speed and a line drive swing from a low hand slot. He produces exit velocity up to 87 mph. He has shown the ability to hit the baseball to all fields. Defensively he shows good instinct on balls in the air. He works through the baseball with fluid footwork and clean exchange, throwing the baseball 80 mph from the outfield. He runs a 6.78 in the 60. Overall a solid athlete that competes and plays the game the right way, a complete baseball player.

Hunter Corbel, OF Central Arkansas Christian
Corbell is a 5-foot-8 160-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and build. He runs a 7.08 in the 60. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork and a normal exchange he throws the baseball accurately at 84 mph. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a slight leg lift as his load and stride. He attacks the baseball with average bat speed and an uphill swing. He produces exit velocities up to 82 mph. Overall Corbel is a solid outfielder with a high motor and knack to compete.
