The early signing period, has been exciting with 45 players making their college commitments official. After the dust has settled, I would like to step back and look at the top players that are available in the 2017 class at each position. Today we will look at infielders.
Jake East, MIF, Bryant HS
East is a 5-foot-10 155-pound short-stop with an athletic frame and build. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork and soft hands. He uses a quick exchange and an accurate arm to throw the ball 83 mph. His arm action is short and loose. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a slight leg kick as his load and timing mechanism. He uses a compact line drive swing that produces exit velocity up to 86 mph. He runs a 6.56 in the 60. Overall East is a premium defender that competes at a high level, with premium athleticism.
Kolby Reck, MIF, Conway HS
Reck is a 5-foot-9 170-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. He impressed offensively during the All-State games. He starts from an athletic stance, he attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and slight uphill swing. He maintains balance through extension and does a sound job incorporating the lower half into his swing. He registered 89 mph during exit velocity testing. Defensively he plays through the ball with fluid footwork. He has a smooth exchange with a loose arm. He threw the ball up to 78 mph across the infield with accuracy.
