Scouting Report
Report: 6-foot, 165-pounds, Gillespie is an infielder for the Ontario Nationals and the 12th ranked player in the 2022 class. Our last look at Gillespie was a month before the shutdown, and the infielder showed continued gains in his game. The actions in the infield are some of the cleanest in his class. He creates good angles and rounds the ball with momentum to his target, the hands are sound with smooth transfers, and the arm works and will allow him to stick on the left side of the infield. At the plate, he works short and direct to the baseball. There's bat speed and looseness, which allows him to catch up to velo. He has added strength and impacts the baseball with more authority than previously. Currently, he's more advanced defensively, but he's coming along on the offensive side of the ball. Runs a 6.91 60 and should continue to shed time off in the coming years. Gillespie is a name to follow in the 2022 class.
