Scouting Report
Uncommitted. 6-0, 160-lb lean, wiry frame w/ athleticism and projection. High leg kick w/ strong balance point and glides down the slope & square toe landing. Loose, whippy arm action working up to H 3/4 slot. Heavy FB at 86-90 w/ arm side run (Avg: 1960 rpm) and late life. Clean out the hand that jumps on hitters and dominates the outer half. Mixes sharp, biting CB at 74-77 (T 2328 rpm) w/ depth and swing n miss potential. 11/5 action that he can land for strikes and bury for chase. Showed development w/ CH at 78-81 w/ slight fade and tunnels well off the FB. Solid third option that can round out his mix. So-so command, but tossed two innings at the 2022 Future Games w/ a pair of punchouts and also a very serviceable switch hitting catcher.
I don't think anyone will be more involved in every game than Bridger Hamilton. He started behind the dish as a Freshman for the Smoky Bears and he's already been up to 90 on the bump. He doesn't wow with over the top power, but he can handle the stick from both sides of the dish and expect a bigger lineup role in year two.
The 6-foot, 158-pound two-way prospect has made quite the jump since the 2020 Jr. Future Games. Growing several inches and adding nearly twenty pounds over the past year, he still has a lean, wiry frame with projection. He's got a quick, loose arm that earned him a spot on Team TN for the 2021 Future Games. Quiet, repeatable delivery with good tempo down the slope. Ball comes out clean at 3/4 slot. FB at 86-90 (T 2237 rpm; Avg: 1973 rpm) with occasional arm side action, but attacks the zone, working a quick clean inning at FG. Leans on mid 70s CB with good bit and downer shape to keep hitters honest off the FB and shows an occasional CH at 74-75. Positionally, very solid behind the dish with good pitch presentation and great arm strength. Fairly clean transfers, popping right around a 2.00. At the plate, can handle the stick from both sides and is a tough at bat. Little light on power at the time, but that will come as he continues to fill out. Hamilton has potential as a true two-way, but he currently has more upside on the mound. He'll be an easy one to follow this Spring.
5-foot-9, 140-pound lean frame. In the box, Hamilton clocked an exit velocity of 77 mph. Begins in a tall athletic stance with a slow load, then uses a small leg kick to initiate his swing. Had flat swing plane, quick bat speed and level finish. In the round he found some barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Behind the plate, showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.95-2.02, he recorded a position velocity of 74 mph during throw downs; had smooth footwork, soft hands and a clean quick exchange. Above average flexibility and calm setup.Had a short arm action and a ¾ slot with decent accuracy to the base. Clocked a time of 7.64 in the 60-yard dash. Above average on the mound, showing quick arm speed he had a loose arm action with a ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed strong balance point and uphill shoulders. Lands square with a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 77-79 mph and topped out at 80 mph; has a tight fastball that shows some action and consistent control. Had decent control and late action on his sharp curveball (65-68). His changeup (70-73) shows fading action and around the zone control.
