2021 Top Prospect Games: Quick Hits
June 29, 2020
Over the past couple weeks, PBR Arizona has had a chance to finally get back to the diamond and start covering more live action. With seasons being shut down, 2021 grads have seemed to take an unpredicted hit as far as exposure goes. Hopefully, that will begin to change here soon as there is plenty of talent left to follow in this class. This past week, PBR Arizona has a chance to hold its Class of 2021- Top Prospect games with some of the top uncommitted players in the class on display. The Top Prospect Games took place on Tuesday, June 23rd at Shadow Ridge High School in Surprise, AZ. This event featured over 50 prospects from the 2021 class from all across the state of Arizona. This annual event has become a must attend event for college prospects and players still looking for a home at the next level.
We began our post event coverage last week by taking a look at the top five performers at each statistical category in our Statistical Analysis. Today, we will be highlighting our first impressions of 10 prospects that stood out in our Quick Hits segment. Be sure to stay tuned over the next few weeks for more post-event coverage.

+ 2021 RHP Reed Interdonato (Horizon)- 6-foot-3 195-pounds, uncommitted, tall lean frame, athletic with some present strength. Tons of potential on the mound with easy effort. Pounded the strike zone. Threw from a lower slot with a short quick arm stroke. Good separation in two-pitch mix. FB sat 85-89mph with sinking action. Paired with a SL at 69-70 mph. Strong upside as a pitching prospect that should be followed.
Uncommitted, 2021 RHP Reed Interdonato (Horizon)- stood out on the mound at our 2021 Top Prospect Games. Pounded the zone with sinking action on his FB at 85-89mph. Combined with a SL at 68-70mph. Easy effort. @husky_baseball_ @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/cVYAuqon4F

+ 2021 RHP Jackson Thomas (Mountain View)- 6-foot-1 185-pounds, uncommitted, strong physical frame. Some rawness to delivery & arm action. Hips work well, creating separation. Highest average velocity on the day of 87.8mph. Showed some command of his FB with short quick arm action at 85-90mph. Slurvy breaking ball 70-74mph. Can throw the breaking ball a bit harder. Has a chance to throw harder from an already strong frame.
Uncommitted, 2021 RHP Jackson Thomas (Mountain View)- top average velocity of the day at 88mph, commanded his FB up to 90mph from short OT arm action. Hips work well, showing separation. Chance to throw hard from stronger frame. @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/0iqxIeXWMW

+ 2021 LHP Steven Vasquez (Odyssey Prep)- 6-foot-4 200-pounds, uncommitted, tall athletic body with present strength, looks like there is even more to build off. Good tempo and rhythm in delivery, showing separation. Clean athletic arm action from ¾ slot. FB sat 85-88mph with downhill action. CV was thrown at 66-68mph with decent shape and bite but needs to be thrown harder. CH was thrown with more velocity than the past although he didn't use it much in live action. Also, competed as a first basemen where he shows some two-way ability. Has some pop in the bat at 93mph and has athleticism around the bag at first base.
+ 2021 C Cade Westerlund (Mountain Pointe)- 6-foot-1 210-pounds, uncommitted, strong physical catcher that shows some durability to build off. Has some tools, showing some big arm strength behind the plate at 84mph. He turned in the best pop times of the day, consistently in the 1.87-1.95 range. Works with pitchers well. He also shows some above average pop at the plate, looking to drive the baseball in the air. His arm strength behind the plate combined with his hitting should make him a strong catching prospect to follow.
Uncommitted, 2021 C Cade Westerlund (@mtpbaseball)- Showed some solid tools as a catcher with big arm strength. Recording 1.87–1.95 pop times at 84mph. Also has above average pop in the bat. Strong follow as a catching prospect. @CadeWesterlund @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/vDRsxlSrqJ

+ 2021 OF Austin Corbett (Horizon)- 5-foot-10 165-pounds, uncommitted, lean compact build, above average athleticism with some quick twitch. Corbett is a player that we haven't seen at an event for a year now and wanted to get a closer update. He showed some tools from a smaller frame, showing the strongest arm in the OF at 91mph as well as one of the top exit velocities at 93mph. We had some reports that he was running the 60-yard dash in the mid 6’s but got him twice around 7.0 on day. He shows more pop and strength then his frame would suggest. We hadn’t seen him pitch too much in the past but he showed some two-way capability. On the mound, he was 81-85mph with FB from an athletic delivery. Threw a breaking ball at 66-68mph.
2021 OF Austin Corbett (@husky_baseball_)- medium compact build, toolsy athlete, good pop from frame. Ran a 7.0 60-yard dash. Highest OF arm at 91mph. One of the top exit velos at 93mph. Also pitched, 81-85mph with his FB. @acorb25 @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/o2bOP6Fyce

+ 2021 OF Jake Terry (Valley Christian)- 5-foot-10 165-pounds, uncommitted, lean athletic build, quick twitch athlete with above average strength from the frame. Speed is supposed to be Terry’s best tool. We weren’t able to see it in the 60-yard dash on the day as he played in a game for his summer team earlier in the AM. Although, He did have a chance to show off his speed on a triple he hit in the RCF game in our live game action. He ran a laser timed 6.79 60-yard dash back at our event in February. Terry is another player that packs a bigger punch on the offensive side of things than his frame would suggest. Terry is one of the top uncommitted CF’s in the state. His arm strength could move him over to LF in the future.
+ 2021 OF Tyvon Moore (Mountain Pointe)- 6-foot 170-pounds, uncommitted, lean athletic build, room to build more strength, fast twitch. Ran the 2nd best 60-yard dash of the event at 6.82. High potential as an OF prospect by fine tuning certain areas. Arm can improve with added strength and rhythm, throwing 75mph from the OF from a lower arm slot. Offense can improve greatly by getting legs involved more, recorded 88mph exit velocity with an upper body dominant swing. Uses a toe tap trigger from a tall narrow base, staying tall through contact. Moore’s athleticism gives him significant upside.
+ 2021 SS Brayan Espinoza (Nogales)- one of the top uncommitted infield prospects. Athletic build at 5-foot-11 175-pounds, proportional athleticism & strength. Ran 7.26 60-yard dash that plays a bit faster in game. Looks like a middle infielder with soft quick hands. Good arm strength across the diamond at 87mph. Hits from a spread out base, using a gather step to transfer energy. Gets to a strong launch position, good barrel consistency with 89mph exit velocity. Like how he plays the game.
2021 SS Brayan Espinoza (@ApacheBaseball1)- one of the top uncommitted infield prospects. High energy, plays with chip on shoulder. Good hands & arm across the diamond at 87mph. Consistent barrel, doesn’t get cheated. @Brayan_E5 @PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/x97b0s64mS

+ 2021 SS Luke Thiele (Hamilton)- one of the biggest surprises of the day as he showed significant improvement from last time we saw him. Should make him another top infield prospect left on the board. At 6-foot 160-pounds, Thiele has a long athletic frame with plenty of room to add strength. Good athleticism, running the top 60-yard dash of the day at 6.68. Showed good hands, making a nice play going to his forehand up the middle in live action. Displays a strong arm across the diamond at 88mph. If his offense can catch up a bit, Thiele has a chance to be a big pickup for a college program.
+ 2021 SS Cole Caruso (Cactus Shadows)- first time seeing Caruso at a PBR event, stood out as a good sized infield prospect. At 6-foot-2 185-pounds, he shows a big long body with some strength & athleticism. Multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball. Currently plays shortstop in high school for Cactus Shadows. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. His speed might move him over to a corner position at the next level where he has the glove and athleticism. His arm was 83mph across the diamond and might need to be more consistent. We have seen his arm a bit higher in the past. He could bring some above average defensive skills to a corner position especially if he keeps growing. Offensively, he looks to drive the ball in the air with a pull approach, showing some feel for the barrel. There is some power potential in the swing and frame. Solid infield prospect to continue to follow.
