2020 Overall Rankings Updated

With winter weather popping up across the country and a World Series Game Seven looming, it’s clear the offseason is nearly here. After a fall season of tournaments, we’ve given the 2020 Overall Rankings a polish. Apart from OF Robert Hassell (Independence HS, TN) moving to No. 5 and C Drew Romo (The Woodlands HS, TX) moving to No. 10, the top 10 remains unchanged.

Hassell, a Vanderbilt recruit, went off for Team USA in its silver medal run at the WBSC 18U World Cup. Had they captured gold, he would’ve been a shoe-in for MVP honors, hitting .514/.548/.886 with five doubles, a triple, two home runs, 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored. With a sweet left-handed swing, he is arguably the top pure hitter in the high school class.

There were some minor changes in the top 100, but the biggest change to note is the addition of players from outside Prep Baseball Report’s state-specific coverage. Thanks to a combined effort from several state and national staff members, the 2020 Overall Rankings now include all states and territories. Most notably, that brings Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Utah into the fold.

The top prospect among that new group is RHP Joey Dixon (Bingham HS, UT), a Stanford recruit. He is an excellent athlete with a quick, loose arm, a low-90s fastball and feel for his secondary stuff. He checks in at No. 38. At No. 48 is OF Mario Zabala (International Baseball Academy, PR). A Florida International recruit, he has a strong frame at 5-foot-11, 204 pounds and loud tools. He can run a 6.7-second 60-yard dash, show an above-average arm from the outfield and produce above-average raw power.

There are also a few players of note that recently changed classes. Stepping into the 2020 rankings from the 2021 class are RHP Carlos Rodriguez (Miami Christian School, FL), OF Owen Caissie (Notre Dame HS, ON) and OF David Calabrese (St. Elizabeth Catholic HS, ON).

Here is a look at the top 10...
