Scouting Report
Preseason All State 2.18.18
Athletic frame at 6-foot, 168-pounds. Hits from an athletic slightly open set up at the plate. Short load to hitting position with slight arm bar. Fast hands through the zone, whipping the barrel with some extension. Nice rhythm and has a knack for consistent barrel on baseball. Gap to gap type hitter who could have some versatility anywhere in a lineup. Athletic actions in the outfield, smooth with clean hand and exchange, shows arm strength with 84 mph velocity. Throws from an almost over the top slot. 6.99 60-yard dash. Very intriguing outfield prospect in the 2019 class.
6.27.17: Burch is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame. Hits from the right side from an upright open stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, good rhythm. Explosive hips with some balance to swing. Mostly level line drive swing, elevates to pull side extending through ball, exit velocity was 83. In the outfield, good footwork, gets behind ball and plays through it well, above average hands. Throws from high three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action, outfield velocity was 77. Ran a 4.32 home to first.
6.21.17 - Athletic frame with some length and room to grow at 5-11, 165. Hits from a slightly open setup with weight a bit forward. rocks back with short, simple load. Short swing path ath the plate with quick hands and fast bat speed. Closes off at times. Nice extension through contact and shows some pop at plate with an 85 mph exit velo. Active feet in the outfield. Works thru ball well with a shorter quick arm action and shows some carry on throws with room for more. Position velo of 79 mph. Nice foundation in player, interesting follow as he fills out frame.
2.12.17 - Nicholas Burch has an athletic body at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. He is an interesting younger prospect in the 2019 class. He runs a 7.38 60-yard dash. He hits from a slightly open setup. Burch has a short load back with leg kick to hitting position. He has quick hands at the plate, whipping the barrel through the zone. He gets nice lower half involvement but a bit inconsistent in balance, spinning on heels at times. That should all get better at he gets stronger. His exit velocity is 78 mph. Defensively he shows a quick first step and aggressiveness in the outfield which made look a bit out of control at times. His arm shows some carry with an OF velocity of 78. Overall, Burch has a solid workout on the day. He has a nice foundation and should continue to get better as he continues to develop.
