2018 Florida All-State Games Spotlight: 2019 3B/RHP Carmine Lane

On July 28th, 2018 at Alex Rodriguez Park at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, the top high school prospects ranging from the 2019-2022 classes will participate in the 2018 All-State Games. The 2018 All-State Games will feature draft talent, numerous Division 1 recruits, and some of the top uncommitted underclassman in the state.
Leading up to the event we will highlight each upcoming participant through their own individual spotlight which includes video, reports, and more. Today we take a look at 2019 3B/RHP Carmine Lane of American Heritage Delray HS, FL.

Scouting Report
05/20/18- Uncommitted, A physical 6-foot-1, 185 pounds he has a strong lower half. Defensively, he shows well above average defensive actions at third. He has a natural feel for the position, ability to make all of the plays needed to stick there with a solid arm and throws have carry. Offensively, he stands tall and really trusts his hands. There is some length and can lose balance at times, but there is present bat speed and strength. When he stays in the lower half and stays balanced there is present power with an exit velocity of 92 mph. Has also pitched in the past and shown some intriguing potential. Overall, there is strength with some projection and upside with present tools.
05/04/18- Uncommitted, he stood out making an impressive play ranging glove side at third showing an above average arm. Offensively, there is some swing and miss but a lot of bat speed and present strength. He also came in relief on the mound. Working 87-88 mph the fastball has some heavy life in the zone. He also showed a curveball at 68-70 mph and a changeup at 77 mph. High uncommitted follow.
01/27/18- Standing at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, he has broad shoulders and a strong lower half. A frame that projects to add 10-15 pounds of muscle fairly easily. Defensively, he works calm and under control. Trusts his hands and creates quality angles. Was 87 mph across the infield and projects as a solid third base defender. Offensively there's a lot to like. The present strength and leverage work working there swing. He stands upright and trusts his hands, but swings with controlled aggression. He stayed gap-to-gap and consistently had hard contact. The swing works and there is much more power to come. Exit velocity was 97 mph. There's a big offensive upside up follow with Lane.
03/23/17- The impressive sophomore has impressed offensively throughout the tournament, hitting in the middle of the order for Heritage. He has a balanced swing with a good approach and a feel for the barrel from the right side. Today, he started on the mound and was equally impressive. He showed a feel for three pitches. An 84-86 mph fastball that showed some heavy life, a 67-68 mph curveball that had depth and he showed a feel for throwing it consistently for strikes and a 75-77 mph changeup that had quality fading action. Overall, a very intriguing two-way player to watch.
