Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament Review: Team PBR White

The Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament on August 17-19 brought together six travel teams from across the state as well as a pair of teams constructed by Prep Baseball Report with prospects not on one of the six travel teams. Today we take a look at those prospects that played for Team PBR White.

Lance Baldensperger

Lance Baldensperger OF / Warren Area, PA / 2019

5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a knee-to-knee stride to initiate his swing. Showcased a flat barrel path through the zone and the ability to drive the right-center field gap. Went 2-for-6 with a triple and a walk in game action while driving in four runs in the opening game of the tournament. Registered an 85 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 6.91 60-yard dash. Displayed athletic actions defensively with solid routes to the baseball and accurate 76 mph arm strength to home plate.
Danny Collinson

Danny Collinson RHP / 3B / West Chester Henderson, PA / 2019

6-foot-2, 195-pound righty sat 73-76 out of a 3/4 arm slot working solely from the stretch. Allowed just one run in three innings of work during tournament action striking out one. Effectively kept hitters off balance utilizing a three pitch mix registering five outs by way of ground balls. Curveball showed 11/5 rotation at 63-66. Changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 69-70. Physical frame with repeatable mechanics. Additional velocity spikes likely moving forward.

Kullen Crosby

Kullen Crosby 3B / Coudersport , PA / 2019

6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Demonstrated a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph and went 1-for-6 in game action. Demonstrated confidence in his glove hand defensively with the ability to make throws from multiple arm angle while registering 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash.
Andrew Curran

Andrew Curran RHP / OF / Souderton Area, PA / 2019

6-foot-2, 240-pound primary pitcher sat 81-83 from a low 3/4 arm slot allowing two hits over three innings of game play while striking out three. Curran also showcased a slider at 67-70. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-5 with a walk and was hit by a pitch during game action. The one hit was a triple to the right-center field gap that drove in two runs. 
Kyle Denisch

Kyle Denisch SS / RHP / Delone Catholic, PA / 2020

5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter went 0-4 at the plate over the course of three games, but showed solid plate discipline walking four times. Denisch also displayed good base running instincts swiping three bases while scoring three runs.

Shane Devereux

Shane Devereux SS / RHP / Malvern Prep, PA / 2021

5-foot-11, 155-pound primary infielder showcased active feet while playing through the baseball with accurate 77 mph arm strength across the diamond. The left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a direct swing path and a solid feel for the barrel in batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Barreled the baseball in several in-game at bats during tournament play and showed good plate discipline drawing three walks. Worked two innings on the mound in game action sitting 75-77 out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Also showed a curveball at 66-67 with 11/5 shape.

Nick Dolan

Nick Dolan SS / 2B / Baldwin, PA / 2020

Rankings  StateRank: 106 / POS: 14

6-foot-2, 165-pound middle infielder has a prototypical frame for the position. Dolan impressed all weekend showcasing a soft glove hand with a quick release. The right-handed hitter also stood out at the plate going 4-for-6 with a walk in game action. Dolan drove in a pair of runs, scored a pair of runs and stole a base to round out a solid all-around performance.

Zach Garlinger RHP / OF / East Pennsboro, PA / 2020

6-foot-2, 160-pound righty sat 83-85, touching 88 mph early from an over-the-top arm slot. Showcased a sharp breaking curveball at 71-73 with 11/5 rotation on this date. Worked three innings allowing one hit while striking out five. Following a solid showing for Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games Garlinger will be a highly followed arm in this class moving forward.
Matt Headley

Matt Headley OF / 3B / Bonner-Prendergast, PA / 2019

6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a short, leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a direct swing path with a line drive approach and registered an 85 mph bat exit velocity. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions defensively with 85 mph arm strength from the outfield.
Matt Henderson

Matt Henderson RHP / Daniel Boone, PA / 2019

6-foot-1, 190-pound uncommitted senior was impressive sitting 83-85, while touching 86 mph in his third inning of work out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Henderson pounded the zone and effectively mixed a curveball with 11/5 shape at 73-74 along with a slider at 77-78. The physical righty worked three scoreless innings without allowing a hit. He struck out five while walking two and allowed just one ball to leave the infield.
Hunter Klotz

Hunter Klotz C / OF / Central , PA / 2021

6-foot-2, 190-pound backstop handled pitchers well during game action showcasing a quick release on throws with a 2.13 in-game pop time on a caught stealing. The left-handed hitter went 0-for-4 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in game action. Although he did not have anything to show for it in the hit column, the sophomore had several quality at bats that resulted in barreled balls for outs.
Tristin Lockett

Tristin Lockett RHP / OF / Mifflin County, PA / 2019

6-foot, 175-pound Shepherd University commit sat 82-84 from an over-the-top arm slot. His curveball with 12/6 shape is thrown with intent at 73-75 and will be an effective pitch for him at the next level. Lockett also showcased a changeup at 74-75 at near fastball arm speed.
Garrett McClain

Garrett McClain 1B / 3B / Downingtown East, PA / 2019

6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitter is rounding back into complete physical shape after a lengthy illness. McClain showed signs of things to come at the plate with a number of quality at bats including a 1-for-2 stat line with a walk in his first game of the tournament.

Tyler Petery

Tyler Petery 2B / OF / Pope John Paul II, PA / 2020

5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter went 1-for-5 with a pair of walks and a run scored over the course of game action. Petery also worked a scoreless inning on the mound sitting 70-72 from a 3/4 arm slot.

John Seibert C / OF / Warwick, PA / 2020

Member of Team PA at 2018 PBR Future Games

6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitter picked up right where he left off following an impressive showing as a member of Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games. Seibert went 3-for-7 with a pair of runs scored and stole a base during three games. The physical backstop also showcased advanced arm strength with consistent pop times that hovered around 2.0 between innings.

Sam Spadea

Sam Spadea 1B / RHP / Pennsbury, PA / 2019

6-foot-2, 225-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Swing has some length with a high hands load and some barrel wrap, but a solid hip turn leads to a bat exit velocity of 95 mph. Showed solid footwork and a soft glove around the bag at first base with 82 mph arm strength across the diamond. Righty sat 80-83 on the mound from a 3/4 arm slot while also commanding a curveball with 11/5 rotation at 67-70 and a changeup at 70-73 with near fastball arm speed. Worked two scoreless innings with two strikeouts in game action.

Dylan Wujcik

Dylan Wujcik OF / LHP / Ringgold, PA / 2020

5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showed a flat barrel path through the hitting zone with a line drive approach leading to an 82 mph bat exit velocity. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash and displayed athletic action defensively while consistently playing through the baseball with accurate 71 mph arm strength.
