PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase Analysis: Class of 2020 Position Players

The PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase took place December 30th at Keystone State Baseball Academy. Today we continue our analysis of the players in attendance by taking a look at position players from the Class of 2021.

CLASS OF 2020
Top Prospect
Jack Hurley, OF/SS, State College Area HS (PA)
6-foot, 155-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a knee-to-knee stride to initiate his swing. Hands work well through contact and displayed the ability to create backspin with an 86 mph bat exit velocity. Future power is likely when current athletic frame fills out. Showcased athletic actions in the outfield with fluid actions and advanced arm strength (89 mph). Also displayed capable glove work at shortstop with 85 mph arm strength across the diamond. Ran a 6.82 60-yard dash to complete an well-rounded day.

Ethan Burnheimer, OF, Owen J. Roberts HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Displayed a feel for the barrel with a line drive approach while consistently barreling the baseball with a 79 mph bat exit velocity. Played through the baseball consistently in the outfield with accurate 76 mph arm strength and ran a 7.00 60-yard dash.
Charles Clark, OF, New Oxford HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with no stride. Displayed a solid hip turn and hands work well through contact. Showed a line drive approach with a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Played through the baseball consistently in the outfield and showed accurate 78 mph arm strength while running a 7.17 60-yard dash.
Jake Ferhat, C, Nativity BVM HS (PA)
5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a very short, lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a short swing path while cutting off his lower half. Showcased a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Registered pop times of 2.25-2.32 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch and ran a 7.08 60-yard dash.
Sean Granahan, 1B, Wyomissing HS (PA)
5-foot-8, 215-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a heel-raise stride to initiate his swing. Showcased excellent tempo to his swing with above average feel for the barrel and present power to the pull-side with a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. Moves well around the bag at first base and exhibited a soft glove hand with accurate 66 mph arm strength across the diamond. Promising left-handed hitter in this class will be one to follow as he continues to develop physically.
Eddie Meredith, 2B, Manchester Valley HS (MD)
5-foot-7, 130-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing from a high-hands load with a leg-lift stride. Swing is sound mechanically and Meredith showed solid balance throughout with a bat exit velocity of 73 mph. Showcased developing skills defensively with accurate 63 mph arm strength across the diamond while running a 7.70 60-yard dash. Overall skill set will continue to improve through strength gains and physical maturity.
Wyatt Metzger, C, Selinsgrove Area HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Displayed an aggressive hip turn and intent with present pop to the pull side. Registered a 90 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. Flashed athletic actions behind the plate with a clean transition and pop times of 2.18-2.30. 70 mph arm strength from the crouch showed good carry.
Jayden Taitano, C/3B, Conestoga Valley HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a solid hip-turn and a direct swing path that led to the top bat exit velocity of the day at 91 mph. Registered pop times of 2.11-2.20 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch and capable glove work at third base with accurate 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. Ran a 7.42 60-yard dash.
