PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase Analysis: Class of 2019 Position Players

The PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase took place December 30th at Keystone State Baseball Academy. Today we continue our analysis of the players in attendance by taking a look at position players from the Class of 2019.

CLASS OF 2019
Top Prospect
Ryan Miller, C, Allentown HS (NJ)
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitter with a long, athletic frame with room for additional strength gains. Starts from a slightly open, wide stance and utilizes a short lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Showcased a short swing path and an ability to stay inside the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Athletic backstop ran a 7.10 60-yard dash and registered pop times of 2.08-2.20 on throws of 70 mph from the crouch.

Sean Caiati, C/3B, Housatonic Regional HS (CT)
5-foot-10, 200-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing from a high-hands load with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Limited wasted movement in swing and solid feel for the barrel. Displayed the ability to create backspin with an exit velocity of 83 mph. Registered pop times of 2.19-2.25 on throws of 67 mph from the crouch. Solid set up with length to his throwing motion. Could reduce pop times with work to shorten transition from catch to throw.
Josh Farina, OF, Warwick HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 145-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Short swing path often gets cut off short of full extension. Displayed a line drive approach with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Showcased athletic actions defensively while consistently playing through the baseball with accurate 80 mph arm strength. Ran a 7.21 60-yard dash.
RJ Huth, OF, Pennsbury HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly crouched, square stance and initiates his swing from a deep load with a heel-raise stride. Some barrel wrap in the load leads to to a bit of length to the swing. Creates significant barrel whip with strong hip turn and showed the ability to make consistent hard contact with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Plays through the baseball routinely from his outfield position and showcased 82 mph arm strength with straight line carry. Ran a 7.06 60-yard dash.
Billy Norbeck, C, Souderton Area HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short, leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Stays inside the baseball well and displayed an above average feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Registered pop times of 2.19-2.30 on throws of 70 mph from the crouch with developing receiving skills. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash.
Justin Swinko, SS, Hershey HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 145-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing from a high-hands load with a leg-hang stride. Some lower half glide present, but head stays behind baseball. Showcased solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Displayed a soft glove hand and an ability to make throws from multiple arm slots defensively with 63 mph arm strength across the diamond. Ran a 7.78 60-yard dash.
Matthew Tannenbaum, 2B, Allentown HS (NJ)
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Showcased solid feel for the barrel with a short swing path and a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Displayed active feet and confidence in his glove hand defensively with a quick release. Registered 75 mph arm strength across the diamond and ran a 6.99 60-yard dash.
