PBR Eval & Measurables Showcase Analysis: Class of 2019

The PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase took place Saturday at the Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. A total of 45 prospects from across two states showcased their talents with prospects representing the classes of 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Today we continue our analysis of all prospects in attendance by reviewing those prospects in the Class of 2019.

TOP PROSPECTS

Nick EmbletonNick Embleton, RHP, East Pennsboro HS
6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way prospect showcased 91 mph arm strength from the outfield, a 92 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 6.83 60-yard dash two weeks ago at the Underclass Preview. On Saturday, the righty also flashed plenty to like on the mound sitting 85-86 while topping at 87 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. The sophomore also showcased solid command of his 71 mph curveball with two-plane 11/5 rotation and a feel for a 75 mph changeup with solid arm speed and some arm side run.

Brendan O'DonnellBrendan O'Donnell, OF/RHP, Great Valley HS
Two-way prospect put up the most impressive across the board measurables of the day. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound primary outfielder ran a 7.13 60-yard dash and flashed 88 mph arm strength from the outfield with athletic actions. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a heel-raise stride to initiate his swing. He displayed present power and a 91 mph bat exit velocity during a solid round of batting practice. The righty sat 83-85 off the bump from a high 3/4 arm slot. Also showcased a 75 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and a developing 72 mph changeup.

Justin RestoJustin Resto, 1B, Cedar Cliff HS
Physically advanced 6-foot-1, 205-pounder showcased present power in his right-handed swing. He starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a leg lift stride. Displayed above average intent in his swing with the ability to create backspin with a bat exit velocity of 92 mph. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash and showcased capable actions around the bag at first base. Short arm throwing motion limits his current 68 mph arm strength across the diamond.

CLASS OF 2019

JD Armstrong, SS, Pine-Richland HS
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Showcased a solid feel for the barrel while during an above average round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Has an aggressive move to his front side that can tie him up and cause difficulties getting his hands to an inner half pitch. Displayed active feet and accurate 77 mph arm strength across the diamond. As he develops physically he will need to work to improve his current 8.00 60-yard dash time.

Anthony Boccio, SS, Coatesville Area HS 
5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Occasional barrel drag through the zone caused by dominate bottom hand. Demonstrated an 83 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.65 60-yard dash. Showcased active feet defensively while consistently playing through the baseball with accurate 74 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Danny Collinson, 1B, West Chester Henderson HS
6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg lift stride. Attacks the baseball and displayed some pop when his foot gets down on time. Showcased a solid glove hand and good feet around the bag at first base with accurate 70 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Billy Dambrosia, 1B/OF, Neumann-Goretti HS
5-foot-9, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Showcased solid hip turn and a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Displayed capable defensive actions around the bag at first base with a short arm throwing motion and 69 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Patrick Durkan, RHP/OF, Westtown HS
6-foot-2, 160-pound primary pitcher sat 74-75 with some sink and arm side run on his fastball. Struggled with command of a 64 mph curveball that showed 11/5 rotation. Also displayed a 71 mph changeup. The right-handed hitter starts from a wide open stance and initiates his swing with a leg lift stride. Caves back side leading to length in the swing and balance issues with a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Ran a 7.95 60-yard dash and registered 80 mph arm strength from the outfield.

Christian Friedel, RHP/3B, Palmyra Area HS
5-foot-10, 135-pound primary pitcher sat 69-73 from a high 3/4 arm slot with some arm side run to his fastball. Also displayed a 65 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation with good arm speed and a 65 mph changeup. Right-handed hitter starts from a wide, square stance and utilizes a heel raise stride to initiate his swing. Some arm bar action leads to length in his swing with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash and showcased developing defensive skills at third base with 68 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Joseph Kaleck, 2B, Neshaminy
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Barrel wrap leads to some length in his swing and issues in getting to the hitting zone on time with regularity. Registered a bat exit velocity of 78 mph and ran a 7.31 60-yard dash. Projects as a second baseman with a short arm stroke and 76 mph arm strength across the infield defensively.

Andrew Kleppinger, RHP, Neshaminy HS 
6-foot, 165-pound righty sat 76-78 from a long, loose 3/4 arm slot with a high knee stack. Curveball at 64-67 showed little break. Splitter at 67 mph showed 2-seam run with some tumbling action. Slider is above average pitch with tight rotation and cut action at 67-71. Long, athletic frame projects for additional velocity in coming years.

Jake Maley, OF, Pine-Richland HS
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short lift-and-replace stride. Showcased above average feel for the barrel during a solid round of batting practice while wearing out the middle of the diamond. Registered an 80 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.41 60-yard dash. Showcased athletic defensive actions with the ability to play through the baseball and 75 mph arm strength from his outfield position.

Hunter Murry, C, Elizabethtown Area HS
5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Repeated swing well and made consistent hard contact when he got his foot down on time. Showcased pop times of 2.28-2.35 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch with accurate, straight line carry.

Cole Patrick, RHP/3B, Elizabethtown Area HS
6-foot-3, 180-pound primary pitcher sat 79-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot with good tempo to his delivery. Gets downhill well creating cutter action on his curveball at 69-72. Stiff changeup looks very much like his fastball. Long loose frame and easy delivery projects for additional velocity to come. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and creates an 81 mph bat exit velocity with a short, lift-and-replace stride. Difficulty in clearing hips prevents hands from firing through the hitting zone leading to barrel drag. Displayed flat feet and deliberate fielding actions at third base with 73 mph arm strength across the diamond.
 
Isaiah Reiner, SS/RHP, Manheim Central HS
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a line drive approach with a solid feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Displayed active feet and accurate 75 mph arm strength across the diamond defensively. Righty sat 71-74 from a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. Also displayed command of a 63 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and a 68 mph changeup with solid arm speed and some arm side run.

Jacob Roe, C/RHP, Palmyra Area HS
5-foot-7, 190-pound two-way prospect. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Showcased pop times of 2.50-2.56 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch defensively. Long arm motion and slow transition could be improved to lower times significantly. Righty sat 71-72 on the mound from a 3/4 arm slot. Also displayed a 63 mph curveball with 10/4 rotation and a 68 mph changeup with good arm speed.

Timothy Via, 1B/RHP, Bridgeport HS (WV)
Projectable 6-foot-2, 190-pound two-way prospect. Righty sat 78-79 from an over-the-top arm slot creating interesting angles to the plate. Fastball showed sink and arm side run while his curveball flashed 12/6 rotation with good depth at 65-68. Changeup showed arm side run with near fastball arm speed at 74 mph. Right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing from a low hands load. Some length that leads to barrel drag resulted in a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Showcased solid actions around the bag at first base with 75 mph arm strength across the diamond.

Cameron Vozel, C, Seneca Valley HS
5-foot-10, 180-pounder with physical frame. Showcased advanced catch and throw skills with pop times of 2.06-2.15 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch. Quiet receiver presents a soft wall when blocking. Right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and stays behind the baseball well. Displayed the ability to drive the middle of the field. Some stiffness leads to difficulties getting barrel to the inner half at times. Registered a bat exit velocity of 77 mph.
