On Deck Preview: East (2 of 3)
January 12, 2022
As the staff at PBR-PA is ready to embark on 2022, let's take a look at players that are ready to make that next jump during this year's Preseason All-State Tour.
PRESEASON ALL-STATE: EAST
Current Roster
Ian White Jr. RHP / SS / The Haverford School, PA / 2024Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 8
What to expect: Explosive spin rates (2400rpm FB, 2700rpm SL) with lots of fluidity through a quick, lower ¾ slot. Has a knack for accruing high strikeout totals and pitched with an edge over multiple in-game looks. What we’d like to see: Slight improvements in both command and velocity will catapult White Jr. to the forefront of the class accompanying the already well-advanced “stuff” needed to make a significant splash.
|
Matt Carr 2B / RHP / Central Bucks West, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 89 / POS: 5
What to expect: A mature approach and short, simple swing has allowed Carr to make some noise on the national scene, posting an (8-13) line at the PBR 16U National Championships in Lakepoint this past July. What we’d like to see: While the offense has hit its stride, the defense will need to progress with similar advancements in order to stick at SS at the next level. With 6.82 footspeed and quality athleticism, the ability is there.
|
Logan Harelson LHP / 1B / Hempfield , PA / 2024What to expect: One of the higher ceilings in the ‘24 class with above-average spin rates on the FB (82-85, 2367rpms). Really reaches down the slope (6.2 feet AVG extension) causing velocity to play up a couple of ticks. What we’d like to see: Improved shape and arm-speed on an upper-60’s CB should allow for more consistent swing-and-miss totals while increasing spin-rates (1613rpms average).
|
Tyler Kidwell OF / RHP / Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 104 / POS: 14
What to expect: High-level two-way output with consistency on all sides of the ball. The offensive skill set will carry him furthest with advanced movement patterns yielding 94 mph exit velocities, a 62% sweet spot, and 349 foot batted ball. What we’d like to see: A somewhat lengthy build (6 foot, 185lbs) could stack on an additional 5-10 pounds of muscle, which would thrust Kidwell into top-75 consideration. Profiles as a legitimate sleeper in the class, carrying plenty of momentum from the summer.
