Over 40 players from across the Old Line State, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and D.C., participated in this year's Freshman Free Showcase at the Maryland Sportsplex. Players were put through a pro-style workout and threw bullpens in front of our PBR Maryland staff with TrackMan and Blast on hand to capture additional data throughout the event. Below are evaluations on the eleven corner infielders at the event.
CORNER INFIELDERS

Evan Adams 3B / RHP / La Plata, MD / 2024
Body: 5’6”, 106 pounds. Athletic body type. Hit: Switch. Hits from a balanced, upright, square stance at the plate. Smooth knee-to-knee load with some hand separation. Stays behind the ball well with a more level swing path and maintains balance throughout from both sides. Line drive tendencies to the middle of the field with a longer one handed finish. Power: 73 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Arm: RH. INF - 63 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a low three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball and fields it out in front with quick, active feet. Quick, clean exchanges with solid range side to side. Creates solid momentum on throws. Run: 8.16 60-Yard Time.

Cadeyrn Ahearn RHP / 1B / Centennial , MD / 2024
Body: 6’3”, 200 pounds. Strong, physical, projectable body type. Hit: LHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly open, tall stance at the plate. Smooth back load with solid hand separation and a slightly uphill swing path. Smaller leg kick stride with quick hands and fast bat speed through contact. Stays behind the ball really well with balance throughout and strong lower half involvement. Hands stay inside the ball well with whippy type barrel action through contact and a strong two-handed finish. Gap-to-gap line drive approach with strength to the opposite field gap. Power: 88 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Present and projectable pop to the middle of the field with more to come as the body continues to fill out. Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball well with active feet. Fields the ball in closer to the body and funnels to the belt with quick, clean exchanges. Moves well around the bag with soft hands and fluid actions on double play feeds. Run: 7.68 60-Yard Time.

Body: 6’0”, 155 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a well balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth, quick back load with some hand separation and a shorter stride. Quick bat speed through the zone with a more level swing path. Stays behind the ball really well with balance throughout and strong lower half involvement. Hands stay inside the ball nicely, creating extension through and past contact with a strong gap-to-gap line drive approach. Strong one-handed finish. Power: 88 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Power present to the gaps and alleys with more projected as the body continues to fill out. Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid to high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball well with quick, active feet. Clean, fluid actions, fielding the ball out in front and funneling to the belt with a slide glove tap in exchange. Soft hands with solid range side to side. Run: 7.54 60-Yard Time.

Josh Hamm 1B / 3B / Patuxent, MD / 2024
Body: 6’1”, 160 pounds. Tall, lanky, athletic frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly upright, square stance at the plate. Quick knee-to-knee load with some hand separation and a shorter stride. Quick hands and bat speed through contact with a slightly uphill swing path. Stays behind the ball well, creating solid extension through contact with some recoil in the back swing. Strong middle to pull side line drive approach with a two-handed finish. Power: 77 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Arm: RH. INF - 70 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Fields the ball out in front, funneling to the belt with a quick glove-tap and clean exchanges. Soft hands with smooth actions, creating solid momentum towards the throw. Run: 7.60 60-Yard Time.

Daniel Hesson LHP / 1B / Colonel Richardson, MD / 2024
Body: 5’7”, 150 pounds. Athletic body type. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly closed stance at the plate. Smooth back load with a short leg kick stride and some hand separation. Some bat speed through contact with a more level swing path. Whippy type barrel action through the zone with some bat speed and extension through contact. Middle of the field line drive approach with a strong two-handed finish. Power: 79 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Arm: LH. INF - 61 mph. Throws with longer arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball well with quick, active feet. Fields the ball in closer to the body with soft hands, funneling to the belt with quick exchanges. Fluid actions and moves well around the bag with momentum towards the target. Run: 8.79 60-Yard Time.

Body: 5’10”, 155 pounds. Athletic, wiry frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, square, more upright stance at the plate. Smooth, quick back load with hand rhythm and a slight toe-tap stride. Attacks the ball with intent with an uphill swing path and quick bat speed through the zone. Stays behind the ball really well with a strong lower half involvement and solid extension through and past contact. Strong two-handed finish with a middle to pull side line drive approach. Power: 85 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Some pop to the pull side with more projected as the body continues to fill out. Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball well, fielding it out in front and funnels to the belt with quick, clean exchanges. Soft hands with clean, fluid actions and showed solid range side to side with the ability to throw from various slots. Run: 7.60 60-Yard Time.

Braydin Kurz 1B / 3B / Mount Saint Joseph , MD / 2024
Body: 5’11”, 180 pounds. Strong, athletic body type. Hit: LHH. Hits from a crouched, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth knee-to-knee back load with solid hand separation and a quick toe-tap stride. Attacks the ball with intent, creating quick hand speed and fast bat speed through the zone. Ball comes off the bat well with a more level swing path and balance throughout. Stays behind the ball well with really nice extension through contact. Slight recoil in the back swing with strong lower half involvement and a powerful middle to pull side line drive approach. Power: 87 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Present pop to the pull side with more projected as the body continues to add strength. Arm: RH. INF - 70 mph. Throws with longer arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball well with quick, active feet. Fields the ball out in front with soft hands and funnels to the belt with a slight glove tap in exchange. Creates solid momentum to the target and moves well around the bag. Run: 8.18 60-Yard Time.

Body: 6’2”, 178 pounds. Tall, athletic, projectable frame. Hit: LHH. Hits from a tall, balanced slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth, quick knee-to-knee back load load with an elongated stride. Attacks the ball with intent with a more level swing path with quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone. Whippy type barrel action through contact with a slight recoil in the back swing and solid extension. Strong lower half involvement, staying behind the ball well with a strong gap-to-gap line drive approach. Strong two-handed finish. Power: 85 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Present pop to the pull side with more developing as his body continues to fill out. Arm: RH. INF - 70 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid to high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball with active feet. Fields the ball out in front with soft hands and quick, clean exchanges. Showed some range side to side with clean actions. Run: 8.39 60-Yard Time.

Brayden Spurgeon RHP / 3B / Mount Saint Joseph, MD / 2024
Body: 6’1”, 165 pounds. Tall, lanky, athletic frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, narrow, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth toe-tap back load with some hand separation and an elongated stride. Slightly uphill swing path with some quick recoil in the back swing. Hands stay inside the ball well with some balance throughout and a solid middle of the field line drive approach. Power: 83 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Arm: RH. INF - 71 mph. Throws with short arm action from a mid to high three-quarter slot. Defense: Plays through the ball with quick, active feet. Fields the ball out in front with soft hands, funneling to the belt with a smooth glove tap in exchange. Creates solid momentum towards the target with some range side to side. Run: 7.72 60-Yard Time.

Jake Yeager RHP / 3B / Arundel , MD / 2024
Body: 6’2”, 170 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, square, slightly crouched stance. Hands pre-set high with some rhythm and a smooth toe-tap load. Creates really nice hand separation with quick bat speed through the zone. Stays on the ball well and stays behind it with some balance throughout. Creates solid extension through and past contact with a slightly uphill swing path. Creates some lower half involvement with a really nice middle of the field line drive approach. Power: 87 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Present pop to the pull side with more projected as the body continues to fill out. Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a low to mid three-quarter slot. Defense: Fields the ball in closer to the body with soft hands and quick, active feet. Funnels to the belt with quick, clean exchanges with solid momentum towards the target. Shows solid range side to side with the ability to throw from various arm slots. Run: 7.75 60-Yard Time.

Brandon Yoder 3B / RHP / Dover , DE / 2024
Body: 6’0”, 160 pounds. Lanky, athletic frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a relaxed, balanced, open stance at the plate. Smooth back load with some hand separation and an elongated stride. More level swing path and keeps his hands inside the ball well with line drive tendencies to the middle of the field. Some recoil in the back swing with a strong two-handed finish. Power: 80 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Arm: RH. INF - 69 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Attacks the ball in the infield with quick, active feet. Fields the ball out in front, funneling to the belt with quick, clean exchanges. Soft hands and fluid actions with solid range side-to-side. Run: 7.34 60-Yard Time.
