Initial Pennsylvania Class of 2022 Rankings Release
November 12, 2018
The Prep Baseball Report and its long list of scouts—which includes a multitude of former college recruiting coordinators and MLB scouts—have put together a modest list of 100 prospects in the 2022 class. After summer and fall seasons that were packed with action, PBR’s boots-on-the-ground forces were able to identify and evaluate a large group of talented players. It is important to note that the PBR Overall Rankings only reflect the states that we intimately cover.
Priding itself on being the most trusted and reliable source for all amateur baseball news, the Prep Baseball Report is constantly out scouting and evaluating players. The 2022 Overall Rankings is sure to evolve, develop, and change over the course of the next four years, much like the players in the class, and PBR is committed to supplying the most credible coverage of that progression.
Following the announcement of the initial overall rankings in this class, today we release the initial list of 10 prospects in the state of Pennsylvania to keep an eye on. This list will grow to 250 or more by the time this class graduates.
The top five players in our initial rankings were also included in the initial overall rankings with LHP Ty Federici (Lake Lehman) topping the list at No. 17 nationally. Shortstop Cole Young (North Allegheny) announced his commitment to Duke last week bringing the number of college commitments to three among those who are included on the initial list.
LHP/OF James Lordi (James Thorpe Area), a Penn State commit, and OF/IF/RHP Nikolas Rubendall (Pope John Paul II) shined as members of the Team Pennsylvania roster at the 2018 PBR Junior Future Games.
Outfielders Vince Fattore (William Penn Charter) and Paxton Kling (Central-Martinsburg) along with catcher Andres Suarez (Freedom) impressed recently at recent Elite Prospect Showcase.
Look for an update to the rankings in this class in March. As always, the winter months provide our staff the opportunity to see many of the top emerging underclassmen in the state during a series of open events and Scout Days culminating with the Preseason All-State Showcase in February.
If history holds true a number of players from this initial list, along with those that will likely be added in March, will likely dot the Team Pennsylvania roster at the 2019 PBR Future Games.
