Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase: Outfield Analysis

The Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase took place yesterday at Cooper Park on the campus of Millersville University. Today we continue a series of articles analyzing the prospects in attendance with a look at those players that participated as primary outfielders.

Top Prospects
Drew Butera, Malvern Prep, Class of 2020, OF
5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitter took the most impressive round of batting practice at the event, consistently barreling baseball to all fields. Starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short leg-hang stride. Showcased balance throughout with above average feel for manipulating the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 88 mph and ran a 6.94 60-yard dash. Showed athletic actions defensively with above average carry on throws of 92 mph from the outfield.
Justin Holmes, Northwestern Lehigh HS, Class of 2022, OF/RHP
Athletic 6-foot-2, 190-pounder showcased a well-rounded skill set on the day. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short, lift-and-replace stride to begin. Displayed good rhythm and balance to his swing with a feel for the barrel. The ball jumped off his bat and future power is a real possibility. Registered an 88 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 6.93 60-yard dash. Consistently played through the baseball defensively with accurate 79 mph arm strength from the outfield. The righty sat 75-79 on the mound out of a high 3/4 arm slot with slight natural cut to his fastball. Also displayed an above average curveball at 64-66 with tight 11/5 rotation.
Aidan Moffa, Perkiomen Valley HS, Class of 2020, OF
5-foot-9, 182-pounder turned in the top 60-yard dash of the event at 6.80 and showcased solid carry on throws of 81 mph from the outfield. Displayed above average strength in his right-handed swing with a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. He starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a controlled lift-and-replace stride. Showed balance and rhythm while routinely squaring the baseball, creating some backspin to the pull side.

Richard Beggy, Central (Martinsburg) HS, Class of 2021, OF
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to begin. Displayed a direct swing path with a line drive approach. Registered a bat exit velocity of 88 mph and ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Showcased the ability to play through the baseball routinely with accurate 78 mph arm strength from the outfield.
Darion Crawford, Bullis HS (MD), Class of 2020, OF
Athletic 5-foot-10, 190-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a feel for the barrel with a swing dominated by his upper half. Registered a bat exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Showed fluid actions defensively while playing through the baseball with accurate 77 mph arm strength from the outfield.
Michael D'Antuono, Delaware Valley HS, Class of 2020, OF/RHP
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing from a high hands load while utilizing no stride. Lack of any pre-swing movement leads to some barrel drag at contact. Registered a bat exit velocity of 80 mph and ran a 7.08 60-yard dash. Displayed capable actions defensively with accurate 72 mph arm strength from the outfield. The righty sat 72-75 from a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. Two-seam fastball showed some arm-side run. Repeats delivery well and also commanded a changeup at 62-65 with similar arm speed.
Gavin Flinchbaugh, Dallastown Area HS, Class of 2021, OF/RHP
6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a short swing path with a line drive approach and some feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 84 mph and ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Athletic prospect showcased developing defensive actions in the outfield with accurate 76 mph arm strength. The righty sat 75-78 while topping at 79 mph on the mound out of a high 3/4 arm slot with a short takeaway. Curveball with 10/4 rotation is a pitch in development at 59-62. Also showcased command of a changeup at 70-72.
Christopher Hampstead, Neshaminy HS, Class of 2020, OF
5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a middle of the field approach with a tendency to block his lower half preventing full extension. Registered a bat exit velocity of 78 mph and ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. Showcased accurate 71 mph arm strength from the outfield defensively.
