For the second consecutive season, ‘23 RHP Noble Meyer (Jesuit/Oregon commit) is the Prep Baseball Report Oregon Player of the Year. 

What is there left to say at this point? Simply put, Noble Meyer (Jesuit) is the #1 High School pitcher in the country. After coming into the 2023 season with beyond lofty expectations, the Oregon commit seemed to go above and beyond what we thought was possible each time he toed the rubber. For context, just look at these pitching numbers from the season.

13 app, 12 starts, 10-2 record, 0.406 ERA, 0.58 WHIP,  69 IP, 19 H, 4 ER, 20 BB, 142 K

In the 2 “losses” on the season, Meyer pitched a combined 13 innings with only 1 earned run, which includes a start against Calvary Christian (FL) who was the #1 HS team in the country at the time. 

Here’s Noble’s final stat line from the 2022 season when he was also POY. 

58.1 IP, 20 H, 8 BB, 129 K, 0.72 ERA, 0.48 WHIP

That’s a 2 year total of 127.1 IP,  39 H, 28 BB, 271 K

In addition to his pitching dominance, Meyer provide plenty of offensive production in his senior campaign

Slashed .359/.464/.692 and had an OPS of 1.156 with 5 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 5 HR, 27 RBI and 17 R in 31 games. 

To conclude, Meyer has been one of the best HS pitchers in the country for the better part of the last 2 years. There will be plenty of speculation, mock drafts and analysis between now and the 2023 MLB Draft regarding the uber talented righty. However it plays out on Draft day, we expect to be hearing more about Noble Meyer for a very long time.

“Unquestionably, RHP Noble Meyer (Jesuit HS, OR, 2023; Oregon commit) is the best prep arm in the 2023 MLB Draft class, and the gap between he and top collegian, RHP Paul Skenes (LSU), might be closing as the season reaches its stretch run towards July.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound right-hander at Oregon’s prestigious Jesuit High School has distanced himself from the pack and now stands alone as a sure-fire top-10 pick. Meyer’s been up to 99 mph with his first bolts of the spring, and he’s routinely turned in impressive outings – including on the national stage – and he seems to have elevated his draft stock with each subsequent outing. His most recent performance on Tuesday was a two-hit shutout of a conference rival, and it might be looked back upon as the galvanizing moment that catapulted Meyer into the upper echelon of prep arms in recent memory.
