Ontario Insider: Under The Radar 2019 Prospects

After incredible performances at the PBR Future Games and the Canada Cup on the east coast, Ontario has only confirmed and cemented its spot on the baseball map. Continually developing impressive young talent, the province is seeing its brightest players commit to big schools both abroad in the United States as well as in Canada.

It may only be the summer of 2018, but we have already seen names from the 2020 as well as the 2021 class make verbal commitments.

That being said, there are still a significant number of names from the 2019 class who remain uncommitted heading into their senior years of high school. Ontario has quite a few under-the-radar names from the upcoming class who can not only make an impact on the next level, but should get plenty of looks from college coaches.

Jesse Miskus OF / 3B / Sandwich, ON / 2018

Report: A toolsy athlete with twitchy actions, Miskus still has room to add some more strength. Speed being the carrying, he is a 6.88-runner with quiet and low-effort strides, allowing him to have the range to cover all three outfield positions. Swinging it from the right side, Miskus has a quiet leg kick load and brings his hands back into a proper launching position. He stays short to the ball with some bat speed through the zone as he takes a short stride forward to create hip-to-shoulder separation in his swing. Finishes swing on a straight front foot and shows more of an ability to repeat his swing. Miskus’ arm works in the outfield. He plays through the baseball, showing proper footwork, and gets rid of the ball quickly with a fluid transfer and quick release. Up to 88 mph from the outfield, Miskus has the ability to become a suitable outfielder on the next level with the tools to do many things on the baseball field well.
