Sam Mitcham C / OF / Sinclair, ON / 2020 Rankings  StateRank: 36 / POS: 4 Report: 6-foot-1, 158-pounds, Mitcham is our top available catcher in the 2020 class. Behind the plate, he’s a solid receiver, who moves well side-to-side, and the catch and throw skills work with clean transfers and proper positioning. He can handle the catching duties at the next level. At the plate, he works towards the ball with a flat plane; it’s a contact approach, and with physical maturity, more power will come. Mitchman is athletic, and with added mass, could continue to make strides in his all-around game.

Jackson Smith C / SS / Corpus Christi, ON / 2020 Rankings  StateRank: 58 / POS: 7 Report: Smith is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound left-handed hitting catcher, and there’s plenty to like in his game. At the plate, he’ll put together quality at-bats, use the whole field, not a lot of swing and miss. There’s some current bat speed and strength, and with minor mechanical tweaks, will impact the baseball with more authority at a more consistent rate. He’s a 7.02 runner, gets out of the box comfortably and has been 4.44-4.50 down the line in the past. Sound defensive catcher, still developing as a receiver, has worked up to 77, catch and throw skills are the best part of his game behind the plate. Smith would be a good get for a school.

Noah Murciano C / 2B / Bill Crothers, ON / 2020 Rankings  StateRank: 72 / POS: 10 Report: Murciano, a 6-foot-2, 160-pound backstop, showed well in the winter. Behind the plate, he has worked up to 1.95 during catcher pops, shown a quick glove-to-hand transfer, arm strength still developing but has been up to 71. He's a left-handed hitter, there's some whip, and he has produced exit velo's up to 86. There's room to better utilize his body and tap into power. It's a wiry frame, and strength development will be crucial for him. Another catcher with a lot to like now with some projectability going forward.

Julio Vasquez C / 3B / St. Benedict's, ON / 2020 Rankings  StateRank: 47 / POS: 5 Report: Vasquez is a physical catcher at 6-foot-1, 212-pounds, with the strength required to handle the catcher's position. Behind the plate, his actions are clean, he works with a short, repeatable arm circle, accurate thrower. His hands work well, and as a result allow him to transition to the infield when needed, and hold his own. At the plate, it’s a compact swing, he works short to the ball, there's some pull-side power when he gets extended. Uncommitted catcher to monitor closely.
