Ontario Scout Blog - Friday Night In Oakville
If I’m a college looking for uncommitted talent in the 2022 and 2023 class, some of the best players in Ontario all on one field is a good place to start.
Early in the Fall, it’s clear to see Ontario is still ripe for talent. Here’s a few players that stood out amongst the crowd on Friday night under the lights in Oakville.

Hugh Pinkney C / OF / Silverthorn CI, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 5
Report: Pinkney, a 2022 Rutgers commit, was one of the top performers on Day One of the CPBL All Star game with a good showing on both sides of the ball. He immediately stands out with his improved size behind the dish at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds and the arm strength plays. The left-handed hitting catcher from the Terriers was on-time all night long with 4 hard hit balls and there’s feel for the barrel that was evident last night. Pinkney’s game has really blossomed over the past year and the maturity and size is starting to play.

Nolan McCrossin 3B / South Ridge, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 1
Report: There’s a lot to love in McCrossin’s swing. At 5-foot-11, 195-pounds, McCrossin gets in the box with a balanced stance, keeps his hands high and drives through the ball with authority. He does a good job of keeping his hands tight to his body and catches the ball out front, though he gets stuck a bit on his back side through the finish. Either way he came through with two knocks including a double to right, the BP was loud at times, and while he could end up at either corner of the infield, we know for sure he’ll be a presence in the box.

Cameron Chee-Aloy OF / SS / Neil McNeil, ON / 2023Report: We’ve seen a lot of Cam Chee-Aloy over the past couple of years, and he continues to grow into one of Canada’s top outfielders. Standing at a sturdy 6-foot, 175-pounds, Chee-Aloy has a loud arm, and oozes twitch in every part of his game. The feet are heavy when he runs, but he gets down the line, and it’s tough not to pay attention when he’s at the dish.

Cole Iantomasi 3B / 1B / All Saints, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 5
Report: We’ve seen a lot of uncommitted 2022 Cole Iantomasi this year, and the bat has always been his carrying tool. At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Iantomasi had one of the louder rounds of BP on Friday night. A summer filled with his fair share of home runs, Iantomasi has proven to be one of the better hitters around in his high school loop, so it’s a safe bet to say that he might keep it going next Fall.

David Alvarez OF / RHP / St. Joan of Arc, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
Report: Long and lean, uncommitted 2022 David Alvarez looks the part. It’s super raw all over the diamond, but there’s a lot of room to grow into his 6-foot, 180-pound frame. Alvarez starts in a slightly open stance with high hands, and he drops his hands a bit but gets on plane enough to lift the ball. Defensively the arm plays in the outfield, and while he doesn’t move extremely well yet, it doesn’t look like he’s near a finished product. |
