We were able to get up to London and get a good look at the Great Lake Canadians and the pitching staff stole the show.
We highlight 8 arms from the bullpens that were thrown on this day with plenty of uncommitted talent for schools and coaches to lock in on.
See it here w/ video included.
Calvin Ziegler RHP / OF / St. Marys, ON / 2021Report: Ziegler is a well known commodity and easily brings the most velocity of anyone in the country right now. In his pen on this day, he worked in the 92-94 range and touched 95 multiple times while the curveball had 11/5 shape and was firm at 83-85 mph. He worked to both sides of the plate with the heater and repeated his delivery while looking like he has added some extra bulk and muscle over quarantine. |
Adam Shoemaker LHP / 1B / St. Benedict, ON / 2021Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
Report: The recent St.John’s commit has made big strides over the last two years and still with a high ceiling, there is a lot to dream on with this 6-foot-6 left-hander. The arm swing is clean and fluid and he threw strikes with the fastball that was in the 85-88 range. The curveball was up to 72 mph and he did change slots at times. Shoemaker is a very interesting 21’ arm and the upside is very big here. |
Aaron Duffy RHP / SS / Assumption, ON / 2021Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 7
Report: Duffy has added some velocity and came out in the 86-88 range with some added size and strength in his projectable 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame. The arm works and there is potential for a three pitch mix as the changeup continues to develop. One thing Duffy can do is spin the baseball and expect for him to be a relied upon starter this year for GLC.

Liam Adamson RHP / Oakridge, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 3
Report: One of the highlights of the day in the bullpen was Liam Adamson. The 2022 right-hander worked with up-beat tempo and short arm swing in the back that got out-front quick and pounded the zone with fastballs in the 85-87 range while topping out at 88 mph. The curveball showed shape and there was feel with his changeup, albeit it was just a pen, you got the sense that Adamson has that pitchability and can move the ball around the plate.

Owen Byberg C / RHP / St. Peter's, ON / 2021Report: A 2022 two-way athlete with the ability to throw. Byberg displayed his arm strength early behind the plate with good carry to the bag out the crouch and then stepped on the mound and was consistently 85 mph while mixing in a slider at 76 mph. He’s 6-foot, 185-pounds and it’s a legit two-way potential with the arm strength on the mound and behind the dish.

Core Jackson SS / Lambton Central, ON / 2021Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 2
Report: This was our first look at the Nebraska commit since his broken leg and Jackson has looked to have nailed his rehab as he has added size and strength and still be able to be himself, evident by his 6.7 sixty that he ran. The swing has extension through the zone with a smooth finish and there is a good chance we see some added juice once games begin. He took reps from both the infield and outfield showing versatility. We’ve always been a fan of the way he approaches the game and look for Jackson to get his feet underneath him sooner than later.

Caleb Clark LHP / 1B / Orillia Secondary School, ON / 2021Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 4
Report: Uncommitted left-hander who made his debut with the Junior National Team this March. The biggest notice with Clark was his spike in velocity during this pen. He touched 89 mph with short action in the back and gets out-front from a low-¾ slot that can be uncomfortable for left-handed hitters. It’s a starters profiel with three pitches and if Clark maintains this bump in velocity, he will be a highly coveted arm from the 21’ class.

Brendan Wilkinson RHP / Craig Kielburger, ON / 2021Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 6
Report: Wilkinson was in the 86-89 mph range on the day and pretty sure he didn’t break a sweat. It’s controlled, smooth, with low-effort on the mound and a curveball that he can spin for strikes that were in the 74-75 mph range with depth to them. He’s really beginning to fill out and the fastball last year played up in game. Another uncommitted 2021 that is sure to be a must watch this summer and fall.
