The OK Winter Open took place on Dec. 20th at the state of the art World Baseball Outreach indoor facility in Tulsa OK. With a limited number of 20 players to easily maintain social distancing, the event still featured some standout young talent. Capable during batting practice, the switch hitter clocked an exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee. He Barreled up a couple of balls with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Raw in the infield, displayed a velocity of 74 mph; showed a clean exchange, quick feet and firm hands. Carson Beam 1B / RHP / Heritage Hall, OK / 2024 Carson Beam: 1B/RHP, (2024) Heritage Hall, OK. 6-foot-3, 180-pound. Capable in the box, Beam recorded a tee exit velocity of 74 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap before his swing. Had flat swing plane, above average bat speed and high finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle approach. His best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 82 mph. Eli Buxton RHP / 1B / Charles Page, OK / 2024 Eli Buxton: RHP/1B, (2024) Charles Page, OK. 6-foot-2, 165-pound. Projectable at the plate, Buxton's best exit velocity off the tee was 84 mph. Began in an open tall stance with a controlled load, then used a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Has uphill swing plane, above average bat speed and high finish. He found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Up the middle approach. Smooth in the infield, displayed a throwing velocity of 76 mph; has sure hands, a clean exchange and fluid feet. Had an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.87.
