OK Rankings Update: Class of 2024

Oklahoma's Class of 2024 continues showing signs of being another national powerhouse class, furthering the tradition of Oklahoma leading the country in nationally ranked players per capita. Through uber talented preseason events and extensive spring high school baseball coverage we have been able to polish and expand our freshman rankings. As usual, we have trimmed down the list from over 250 Okies to the top 75 for these early rankings. We will aggressively adjust and expand this list as we get more looks and more data on the 2024 players in the state. The Top 3

Kash Mayfield LHP / OF / Elk City, OK / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1

The 6-foot-1, 150-pound left-hander impressed with clean actions, a loose arm and a ton of strikes at the OK Summer Underclass Games. The projection was apparent and Mayfield saw he velo jump from 76 at the beginning of the summer to the mid 80s by the end of the summer by multiple reports. With much more still in the tank, Mayfield is quickly becoming one of the top left-handers in the country. It appears that the Oklahoma State commit has chosen to protect his arm this spring and will likely be jumping back on the mound this summer.

GARRETT SHULL
SS / RHP / ENID , OK / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1

An Oklahoma State commit, the 6-foot, 175-pound switch hitting shortstop keeps getting better and better. Defensively, Shull shows well advanced actions and arm strength (85 mph) for his age that will continue to get better and allow him to stay on the dirt at the next level. Offensively, Shull stands out as a capable switch hitter with a polished left-handed swing producing Trackman exit velos up to 92 mph. Shull had a huge spring for Enid hitting over .370 and over 20 extra base hits.

Luke Williams LHP / OF / Lincoln Christian, OK / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 2

One of the top performers of any state at the PBR Junior Future Games, the 5-foot-10, 150-pound quick twitch athlete impressed on both sides of the ball. On the mound, Williams sits 81-84 mph topping at 85 with arm-side run and two advanced off speed offerings. Offensively, Williams makes consistent loud contact with sneaky pop from the left-side (85 exit velo). Defensively, Williams patrols the outfield with a 7.26 60 and shows off a 90 mph arm. This spring, the Oklahoma commit has shined brightest on the mound pitching in the low to mid 80s and continuing to polish his big downer breaking ball.

Newcomers

The preseason and spring saw a flood of new talent make a name for themselves. These three below led the way with some impressive performances, jumping into the top 50 of an already very talented class.

Eli Buxton RHP / 1B / Charles Page, OK / 2024

A stand out a the OK Preseason All-State Showcase, Buxton is an uber projectable 6-foot-3, 165-pound right-hander. Even as a freshman, Buxton played a major role on the mound the the Sandite's varsity team this spring, showing that he was not only physically projectable, but is already competing at a high level. Buxton features a fastball up to 80 and an advanced slider at 70-74.

Gamaliel Jones OF / LHP / Union , OK / 2024

A still developing 5-foot-3, 123-pound athlete, Jones impressed at the OK Preseason All-State by ripping off a 7.17 laser timed 60, elite for his age. Jones also showed a clean, left-handed swing that produced almost all barrels in BP. Jones will be a high follow prospect as he puts on size and strength.

Cade Lewis SS / 2B / Bixby , OK / 2024

A lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pound with developing strength, Lewis shows advanced feel on the defensive side of the ball with clean footwork and soft hands.

Risers

As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.

Kayden Campbell LHP / OF / Charles Page, OK / 2024

The lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 140-pound athlete, Campbell really impressed on the mound at the Preseason All-State Showcase. The left-hander threw strikes with a fastball up to 82 with angle and tilt. Campbell also landed his 1/7 shaped curveball with depth for strikes. The young left-hander was able to be an impact arm for the Sandites varsity team on the mound.

Owen Hall RHP / 3B / Edmond North, OK / 2024

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound long and projectable frame was yet another arm that showed out at the Preseason All-State Showcase. The right-hander featured a fastball that was up to 83 with advanced spin for his age. Hall also showed advanced feel for his changeup at 72-73 mph.

JayShaun Sykes 2B / SS / Moore, OK / 2024

The 5-foot-8, 145-pound developing athlete rises in our rankings thanks to added athleticism and polish to his game. Sykes blazed a sub 7.00 laser 60 at the OK Preseason All-State. The right-handed hitter also showed a clean swing and found plenty of barrels with BP. Look for Sykes to continue to rise with added strength.
